Quick Guide

The Lyyt High Output LED Tape is a 24Vdc lighting solution designed for indoor use (IP20). It features a self-adhesive backing for easy installation on clean, non-porous surfaces. The tape can be cut to size at designated points every 5cm. For installations longer than 5m, ensure the power supply has sufficient amperage to handle the total load to prevent voltage drop and dimming.

Product Overview

This LED tape is supplied on 5m reels and is available in 3000K Warm White or 6000K Cool White color temperatures. It is suitable for various applications including hospitality, retail, offices, displays, and exhibitions.

Specifications

  • Voltage: 24Vdc
  • LED Type: 2835 Sanan
  • Beam Angle: 120 degrees
  • IP Rating: IP20 (Indoor use only)
  • Power Consumption: 12.8W per meter
  • LED Quantity: 120 LEDs per meter
  • Cut Points: Every 5cm

Installation and Cutting

The tape is equipped with a self-adhesive backing. Ensure the mounting surface is clean and non-porous before application. For added protection, it is recommended to install the tape into an Aluminium Profile.

Cutting and reconnecting the LED tape
Cutting and reconnecting the LED tape

If you need to cut the tape to a specific length, use the designated cutting points located at 5cm intervals. To reconnect segments after cutting, solder a wire from the "+" terminal to "+" and from the "-" terminal to "-".

Power Connection and Daisy-Chaining

Each 5m reel comes with a 2.1mm DC jack for easy connection to a power supply. If the power supply does not have a 2.1mm jack, the connector can be removed to allow for bare wire connection.

You can link up to 25m of tape. However, to avoid dimming at the far end due to voltage drop, it is recommended to use a separate wire to loop the "+" and "-" back to the power supply or run a parallel wire from the power supply to further reels. Ensure your power supply has a higher amperage rating than the total current required for the installed length of tape.

Safety and Disposal

This product is intended for professional installation. Observe all relevant electrical safety procedures. This product is classed as Electrical or Electronic equipment and should not be disposed of with household or commercial waste. Dispose of the unit according to local council guidelines.

Practical help

Common problems

Dimming at the end of the LED strip

This is caused by voltage drop. Use a separate wire to loop the '+' and '-' back to the power supply or run parallel wires from the power supply to the further reels.

Power supply overheating or failing

Ensure the power supply has a higher amperage rating than the total current required for the installed length of LED tape.

Before use

  • Verify the power supply is 24Vdc.
  • Ensure the mounting surface is clean and non-porous.
  • Calculate the total current requirement based on the total length of tape installed.
  • Confirm the installation environment is suitable for IP20 (indoor only).
  • Check if you have the necessary soldering equipment if cutting and reconnecting the tape.

Images and diagrams

  • Cutting and Reconnecting: Shows where to cut the tape at 5cm intervals and how to solder wires to reconnect segments.
  • Power Connection: Illustrates the 2.1mm DC jack connection and how to run parallel wires to prevent voltage drop.

Model compatibility

  • Compatible with 24Vdc power supplies.
  • Can be linked up to 25m total length.
  • Not suitable for outdoor use (IP20).
