Quick Guide and Safety Information
The BERG XL Frame BFR is designed for children aged 5 and older. It is not suitable for children under 3 years due to small parts and choking hazards. Adult assembly is required. This product is strictly for private use and must not be used on public roads. The maximum user weight is 100 kg.
Assembly Instructions
The assembly process involves 8 main steps as detailed in the manual. Ensure all bolts and nuts are securely tightened during assembly. Refer to the provided diagrams on pages 2 through 5 for the correct placement of components, including the frame, axles, and steering mechanism.
User Guidelines
Before Use:
- Adjust the seat and steering wheel to the correct position for the user.
- Verify that steering, brakes, and tires are functioning correctly.
- Ensure all bolts and nuts are fixed.
- Check tire pressure against the specifications on the tire.
- Ensure all protective covers are in place.
During Use:
- Ride at a controlled speed.
- Always use the back pedal brake to stop.
- Ride only on smooth surfaces without obstacles.
- Do not place objects on or against the steering mechanism.
- Do not ride in the dark without lights.
- Avoid sharp turns at high speeds to prevent tipping.
Maintenance Schedule
Regular maintenance is required to ensure safety and longevity:
- Daily: Check wheels/tires for damage and wear; check tire pressure.
- Monthly: Clean and check all nuts and bolts; check frame for cracks; check chain tension and grease chains; lubricate moving parts.
- Half-yearly: Check functioning of bearings, chain, hub, sprockets, and axles.
- Yearly: Clean plastic parts and check for damage.
Chain Tensioning Procedures
Rear Chain:
- Remove the protective hood.
- Loosen the hub nuts.
- Move the hub forwards to tension the chain.
- Ensure the hub remains parallel to the rear axle.
- Tighten the hub nuts. The chain is correctly tensioned if the middle can be pushed 6 mm downwards.
Front Chain:
- Loosen the bolts on the underside of the frame.
- Move the crank axle forwards to tension the chain.
- Tighten the bolts. The chain is correctly tensioned if the middle can be pushed 10 mm downwards.
Crank Adjustment
After initial use (several days of intensive use or up to two weeks of normal use), the mounting bolts for the left and right cranks must be tightened. Use a maximum tightening torque of 30 Nm. Regular tightening prevents play, which can damage the crank and crank axle.
Warranty
The frame is covered by a 2-year warranty, while other parts have a 1-year warranty. Wear and tear parts like chains and tires are excluded. Warranty claims require the original purchase receipt and the product serial number found on the frame.

Practical help
Common problems
Check chain tension. If too loose, the chain may come off; if too tight, pedaling becomes difficult. Adjust tension according to the manual.
Tighten the crank mounting bolts to a maximum of 30 Nm. This is common after initial use as the assembly settles.
Check tire pressure. Incorrect pressure leads to excessive wear and handling issues. Ensure valve caps are fitted.
Before use
- Adjust seat and steering wheel to user size.
- Verify steering, brakes, and tires are functioning.
- Ensure all bolts and nuts are tightened.
- Check tire pressure against tire specifications.
- Ensure all protective covers are installed.
