The Bosch PMF 220 CE is a versatile multifunction tool designed for sawing, cutting, sanding, and scraping various materials including wood, plastic, plasterboard, and non-ferrous metals. This guide provides essential information for safe and efficient operation.
Product Description
The tool features an on/off switch, an orbital stroke rate preselection thumbwheel, and a tool holder with an integrated magnet for easy accessory mounting. It is designed for precision work, especially near edges and flush with surfaces.

Assembly

Changing the Application Tool
Always disconnect the power plug before performing any work on the tool. Use the provided hex key to loosen the clamping bolt. Position the desired tool on the holder so the depressed center faces downwards. The magnet will hold the tool in place while you secure it with the clamping bolt. Ensure the tool is securely fastened before operation.
Depth Stop
The depth stop can be used when working with segment saw blades to ensure consistent cutting depths. Slide it over the tool holder onto the collar of the tool. Rotate it to the desired depth setting.
Dust Extraction
For sanding, it is recommended to connect a dust extraction system. Remove the application tool and depth stop, slide the dust extraction system over the tool holder, and secure it with the clamping lever. Connect your vacuum hose to the extraction outlet.
Operation
Switching On/Off
To switch on, slide the on/off switch forward to the 'I' position. To switch off, slide it backward to the '0' position. The tool features a soft start function to limit torque during startup.
Preselecting Oscillation Rate
Use the thumbwheel to adjust the oscillation rate during operation. Level '6' is recommended for harder materials like wood or metal, while level '4' is suitable for softer materials like plastic.
Working Advice
- Sawing: Use only undamaged, perfect saw blades. Plunge cuts should only be performed on soft materials like wood or plasterboard.
- Sanding: The removal rate depends on the sanding sheet, oscillation rate, and contact pressure. Apply consistent pressure for best results.
- Scraping: Use a high oscillation rate. Work at a flat angle with low pressure on soft surfaces to avoid cutting into the substrate.
Maintenance
Keep the tool and ventilation slots clean for safe operation. If the power cord needs replacement, it must be done by an authorized Bosch service center. Clean Riff accessories regularly with a wire brush.
