This manual provides essential instructions for the Clarke Airmaster 18/200 200L belt-driven air compressor. Users must perform daily maintenance, specifically draining the reservoir, and ensure the unit is installed in a well-ventilated, dry environment. The compressor requires a 32A electrical supply and must be earthed. Always check the oil level before use and ensure the safety valve is functional.

Safety precautions

Compressed air is dangerous. Follow these safety rules:

• Do not point air jets at people or animals.
• Do not operate without the guard.
• Ensure the compressor is disconnected from the power supply before maintenance.
• Do not leave pressure in the reservoir overnight.
• Wear ear protection as noise levels exceed 70dB(A).
• Do not adjust or tamper with safety valves.
• Keep the compressor dry and clean.

Installation and electrical connections

The compressor must be installed on a firm, level site using anti-vibration pads. Ensure sufficient ventilation for air intake and cooling, with at least 500mm clearance around the machine.

Electrical Requirements:

• Requires a 32A plug and connection to a MCB Type C meeting BS EN 60309 requirements.
• A standard 13A (BS1363) plug must NOT be used.
• The appliance must be earthed.
• Wiring code: Green/Yellow (Earth), Blue (Neutral), Brown (Live).

Operation

Before use, ensure the compressor is on level ground and the supply voltage matches the data label. Check the oil level using the sight-glass; use ISO100 (SAE30) oil. To start, plug in the unit and lift the On/Off button. To stop, push the button down. Always drain the reservoir of condensate after each day's use.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance is required to ensure longevity:

• Oil: Check level before use. Replace after the first 100 hours, then every 500 hours or 6 months.
• Air Filter: Examine monthly; clean or replace if damaged.
• Drive Belt: Inspect for wear and replace if necessary.
• Non-return Valve: If pressure drops unexpectedly, check the valve for leaks.

Troubleshooting

If the compressor fails to start, check electrical connections or the overload cutout switch. If the overload trips, switch off, wait 5-10 minutes, press the reset button, and switch back on. If the compressor is noisy or overheats, contact your Clarke dealer.
