This manual provides instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of the Craftsman 139.53930D garage door opener. Before beginning, ensure the garage door is balanced, does not bind, and all locks are disabled. The opener requires a 120V, 60Hz power supply. Always test the safety reversal system monthly.

Preparation and Safety
Before installation, verify the garage door is balanced. Lift the door halfway; it should stay in place supported by its springs. If the door binds or sticks, contact a trained door systems technician. Remove all ropes and disable all locks connected to the garage door to prevent entanglement.
Assembly
Assembly involves preparing the rail, installing the trolley, and attaching the chain. Ensure the rail sections are aligned correctly. The trolley must be installed on the rail before fastening the rail to the motor unit. The chain must be tensioned properly so it is approximately 1/4 inch above the base of the rail at its midpoint.

Installation
The header bracket must be securely fastened to structural supports above the door. The opener should be hung from the ceiling using sturdy hanging brackets. Install the wall-mounted door control within sight of the door, at least 5 feet above the floor, and out of reach of children. The Protector System (safety reversing sensors) must be installed no higher than 6 inches above the floor and aligned so the sending and receiving eyes face each other.

Adjustment
Travel limits regulate where the door stops. Use the limit adjustment screws on the motor unit to set the UP and DOWN travel. After setting limits, adjust the force controls to ensure the door operates smoothly without nuisance reversals. Always perform the safety reversal test after any adjustments: the door must reverse upon contact with a 1-1/2 inch object (or a 2x4 laid flat) on the floor.

Operation
The opener can be activated via the hand-held remote, wall-mounted door control, or keyless entry. If the safety sensors are obstructed while closing, the door will reverse. In case of power failure, use the emergency release handle to disengage the trolley and operate the door manually.
Programming
To add or reprogram a remote, press and release the 'learn' button on the motor unit, then press the button on the remote within 30 seconds. To erase all codes, press and hold the 'learn' button until the indicator light goes out. Keyless entry PINs can be programmed or changed using the 'learn' button and keypad.
Troubleshooting
If the door will not close and lights blink, check the safety sensors for alignment or obstructions. If the motor hums but the door does not move, check if the trolley is stuck on the stop bolt and adjust the chain tension. Refer to the diagnostic chart in the manual for specific flash codes from the diagnostic LED.
