  • Handle Assembly: Remove packing material. Raise the upper handle into the operating position. Attach the upper and lower handles using the provided hardware. Ensure cables are not tangled or caught between handles.
  • Chute Assembly: Turn the crank assembly counterclockwise. Position the snow chute on the flange, align the holes, and secure with carriage bolts, flatwashers, and nuts from the inside.
  • Clutch Cable: Check the clutch control cable adjustment. The "Z" fitting should be positioned correctly in the clutch lever hole with no droop in the cable.

Operation

Controls: Familiarize yourself with the auger drive lever, crank assembly (for chute direction), chute deflector (for distance), ignition key, electric starter button, and throttle control.

Starting the Engine:

  • Electric Start: Ensure the auger drive lever is disengaged. Move the throttle to Fast. Insert the ignition key. Rotate the choke to ON. Connect the power cord to the engine and a 120V outlet. Push the primer button (number of times depends on temperature). Press the starter button until the engine starts.
  • Recoil Start: Follow the same preparation steps as electric start, then pull the recoil starter handle rapidly.

Stopping: Push the throttle control lever to Stop and pull out the ignition key.

Maintenance

  • Oil: Check the oil level before each use. Use 5W-30 motor oil. Change oil every 25 hours and at the beginning of each season.
  • Spark Plug: Clean or replace if electrodes are pitted. Set the gap to .030 inch.
  • Shear Bolt: If the auger hits an object, the shear bolt is designed to break to protect the machine. Replace with the spare shear pins found in the toolbox.
  • Belt: If the snow thrower fails to discharge, check the auger drive belt for damage or looseness.

Storage

If storing for more than 30 days, remove gasoline or add fuel stabilizer to prevent gum deposits. Run the engine until the fuel lines and carburetor are empty. Clean the unit thoroughly and lubricate all points.
