Safety and soldering precautions

Soldering must be performed only in well-ventilated areas. Improper heating of the filter drier paint can release toxic fumes, which may cause skin and eye irritation or internal organ damage.

  • Apply heat only to the connection point.
  • Direct the flame away from the filter drier body.
  • For pure copper connectors, always wrap the connector with a wet cloth during soldering.

Maximum working pressure

The maximum working pressure (PB/MWP) must not be lower than the pressure specified in section 8.2 of ANSI/ASHRAE 15 for the refrigerant used in the system. Pressure ratings vary by connection size:

  • 1/4", 5/16", 3/8", 1/2", 5/8" connections: 610 psig / 42 bar.
  • 3/4", 7/8" connections: 507 psig / 35 bar.
  • 1 1/8" connections: 435 psig / 30 bar.
  • All Flare/ORS sizes: 610 psig / 42 bar.

System marking

After the charging process is complete, the system must be clearly marked to indicate the type of refrigerant and oil used.
