This document provides installation and operation instructions for the Danfoss RAS-C2 radiator thermostat. The valve is bi-directional and can be installed horizontally or vertically. A key feature is the flow direction selection, which helps eliminate water hammer. The maximum pressure drop should not exceed 0.45 bar.
Installation of valve
To install the valve and set the flow direction:

- Close all radiator valves by turning the valve cover cap clockwise and allow the system to cool.
- Start the boiler/heating system.
- Open one valve and determine the flow direction by checking which pipe heats first.
- Remove the cap and turn the setting ring by hand according to the provided diagrams.
- Repeat these steps for all valves until correctly set.
Fitting the Sensor

- Remove the cap from the valve and turn the sensor to the setting indicated by the alignment mark.
- Ensure the union nut is turned loosely up towards the sensor body until it is only slightly free of the lower part.
- Press the sensor firmly onto the valve. For horizontal mounting, ensure the scale pointer is at the top; for vertical, ensure it is at the front.
- While holding the sensor firmly, secure the connection by turning the union nut clockwise by hand.
- Fully tighten the grey union nut using parrot nose pliers.
Operation and Settings
The desired room temperature is set by turning the head. The settings correspond to approximate temperatures: 8°C (frost protection), 12°C (bedroom), 16°C (living room), 20°C (bathroom), and 24°C. The thermostat features a positive shut-off; turning the head past the frost protection setting to '0' shuts off the water flow completely, allowing for radiator maintenance.
Important usage notes
- Do not cover the thermostat with curtains or furniture, as it needs free air flow to sense the temperature accurately.
- TRVs regulate water flow through the radiator but do not control the boiler.
- Turning a TRV to a higher setting will not heat the room faster; heating speed depends on boiler and radiator size.

Practical help
Common problems
Turn the setting ring to the other setting as shown in the diagrams.
Before use
- Ensure the system is cool before starting installation.
- Verify the flow direction by checking which pipe heats first.
- Use a flat-faced adjustable spanner and a soft cloth to protect chrome surfaces.
- Ensure the sensor is not blocked by curtains or furniture.
- Use parrot nose pliers to fully tighten the union nut.
Specs in practice
- Maximum pressure drop
- Should not exceed 0.45 bar for proper operation.
Images and diagrams
- The setting ring allows for flow direction selection to prevent water hammer.
- The sensor scale pointer must be positioned at the top for horizontal mounting or at the front for vertical mounting.
Model compatibility
- Package contains sensor 013G6040 and valve 013G6285 (15 mm) or 013G6286 (8/10 mm).
- Lockshield valve RLV-D is included in codes 013G6003 and 013G6004.
