Quick guide from the manual
The Aircast XP Walker Extra Pneumatic is designed to provide support and immobilization for the lower leg, ankle, and foot. It is suitable for stable ankle and/or foot fractures and severe lateral ankle sprains. This device must be used under the supervision of a healthcare professional.
Application
- Prepare the brace: Unfasten all straps, remove the front panel, and open the toe cover and foot flaps.
- Apply the brace: Put on the included sock. While seated, place your leg into the brace, ensuring the heel is seated against the back. Wrap the foot flaps over the foot and secure the toe cover around the toes.
- Secure the brace: Position the front panel with the lower part inside the brace and the upper part outside. Secure the straps starting from the bottom and working upwards until the fit is snug and comfortable.
Adjusting Aircast support
The pneumatic cells are initially deflated. To inflate:
- Insert the 'inflate' tip of the hand bulb firmly into the brace valve.
- Cover the pressure-relief valve on the hand bulb with your finger.
- Squeeze the bulb repeatedly until the air cell feels snug.
- While the bulb is still in the valve, lift your finger from the pressure-relief valve for 3-5 seconds, then remove the bulb.
To deflate, insert the 'deflate' tip of the hand bulb into the valve and squeeze until the desired compression is reached. Higher pressure in distal air cells provides more support when walking, while lower pressure is more comfortable when sitting or reclining.
Use and care
The foam liner can be hand-washed in cold water with mild detergent and air-dried. Do not use the device if it is damaged or the packaging has been opened. This device is not made with natural rubber latex and is intended for single-patient use only.
