Quick guide from the manual
The LESTER K is a stereo rotary speaker cabinet simulator. It features adjustable FAST and SLOW modes, tube-emulated overdrive, and a balance control to fine-tune the mix between the low-frequency rotor and high-frequency horn. The pedal supports both mono and stereo configurations.
Controls
- FAST Knob: Adjusts the rotation speed when in FAST mode. Center position replicates a real rotary speaker cabinet's fast speed.
- SLOW Knob: Adjusts the rotation speed when in SLOW mode. Center position replicates a real rotary speaker cabinet's slow speed.
- BALANCE Knob: Controls the mix between the low-frequency rotor and high-frequency horn. Clockwise increases horn volume (brighter sound); counter-clockwise decreases it (darker sound).
- DRIVE Knob: Controls the amount of tube-emulated overdrive. Fully counter-clockwise bypasses the overdrive effect.
- VOL Knob: Controls the overall output volume.
- BYPASS Footswitch: Selects between buffered bypass mode and effect mode.
- SPEED/BRAKE Footswitch: Tapping switches between FAST and SLOW modes. Press and hold for at least half a second to enter BRAKE mode.
- LED: Indicates effect mode is active and pulses at the speed of the low-frequency rotor oscillation.
Connections
- Inputs: Labeled MONO/L and R. For mono setups, use the MONO/L input. Input impedance is 2MΩ.
- Outputs: Labeled MONO/L and R. For mono effects, use the MONO/L output. For stereo output, connect both jacks to separate amplifiers or mixing board inputs. Output impedance is 680Ω.
- Power: Requires 9V DC, 135mA, center negative plug. Use the supplied EHX9.6DC 200mA AC adapter.
Operation Modes
- FAST Mode: Oscillates at the fast speed of a rotary speaker unit for a tremolo-like effect.
- SLOW Mode: Oscillates at the slow speed of a rotary speaker unit for a chorale-type effect.
- BRAKE Mode: To enter, press and hold the SPEED/BRAKE footswitch for half a second. The unit will gradually decelerate to a stop. Tap the footswitch again to return to the previous mode.

Practical help
Common problems
Ensure the pedal is in effect mode (LED should be lit). Check the BYPASS footswitch.
Verify you are using the correct 9V DC center negative power supply (135mA required).
Adjust the BALANCE knob. Clockwise increases horn volume (brighter), counter-clockwise decreases it (darker).
Before use
- Ensure you have a 9V DC center negative power supply (135mA required).
- Connect your instrument to the MONO/L input for mono setups.
- Connect your amplifier(s) to the MONO/L and R outputs.
- Verify the pedal is in effect mode (LED should be lit).
Specs in practice
- Input Impedance
- 2MΩ, suitable for standard instrument signals.
- Output Impedance
- 680Ω.
- Power Requirement
- 9V DC, 135mA, center negative plug.
Model compatibility
- Can be used with mono or stereo inputs.
- Can be used with mono input and stereo output by connecting to both R and MONO/L outputs.
