The Elgato 4K60 S+ is a high-performance capture card designed for recording high-quality gameplay. It offers two primary modes of operation: PC-based recording and standalone SD card recording. This versatility allows users to capture footage directly to their computer or record independently without a PC.
PC Recording Setup
To record directly to your computer, connect the 4K60 S+ to your PC using the provided USB cable. Ensure the device is powered using the included power supply. Download and install the Elgato 4K Capture Utility from the official website to manage your recordings and settings. When connected to a PC, both the power and USB connections are mandatory for proper operation.

Standalone SD Card Recording
For standalone recording, the 4K60 S+ allows you to capture gameplay directly to an SD card without a PC connection. In this mode, only the power supply needs to be connected; do not connect the USB cable to your computer. Insert a compatible SD card, and use the device controls to start and stop your recordings. Ensure you wait for the LED indicator to stop flashing rapidly before removing the SD card to prevent file corruption.

Safety and Maintenance
Always use the power supply shipped with your product to ensure stable operation and prevent damage. When recording to an SD card, ensure it meets the minimum speed requirements (UHS Class 3 / V30) and is formatted as FAT32 or exFAT. Do not remove the SD card while the device is processing data, as indicated by a rapidly flashing red LED.
LED Status Indicators
The device features an LED indicator to communicate its current status. A slow flashing light typically indicates recording or standby mode, while a rapidly flashing light signals an error, such as no signal, HDCP issues, or SD card problems (e.g., full, locked, or too slow). A solid or pulsing light indicates the device is connected or booting up.
