Product Overview
The Elgato Wave XLR is a compact audio interface designed to connect professional XLR microphones to your computer. It features a multi-function control dial, a capacitive mute sensor, and a 3.5mm headphone jack for direct monitoring.
Getting Started
To begin using your device, download and install the Elgato Wave Link app from elgato.com/download. Connect the Wave XLR to your computer using the provided USB-C cable.
Microphone Setup
Connect your microphone using a standard XLR cable. The device supports both condenser and dynamic microphones:
- Condenser Microphones: Require 48V phantom power. Ensure the 48V LED is ON.
- Dynamic Microphones: Do not require phantom power. Ensure the 48V LED is OFF.
- Toggle Phantom Power: Press and hold the control dial for 2 seconds to switch the 48V power state.
Operation and Controls
The central control dial allows you to adjust various settings. Press the dial to toggle between Mic Gain, Headphone Volume, and Mic/PC Mix. Rotate the dial to adjust the selected parameter.
The capacitive sensor located on the back of the unit allows for quick muting and unmuting of the microphone. Simply tap the sensor to change the status.
Monitoring
Connect your headphones to the 3.5mm jack on the back of the unit. Always keep the monitoring volume at a moderate level to protect your hearing.
Customization
The faceplate of the Wave XLR can be easily removed and replaced to personalize the look of your setup.

Common problems
Microphone is not producing sound
Check if the microphone is muted (tap the capacitive sensor on the back) and ensure the correct phantom power setting (48V) is selected for your microphone type.
Audio is too quiet or distorted
Use the control dial to toggle to 'Mic Gain' and adjust the level. Ensure you are not clipping the signal.

- Connect the device to your computer via the supplied USB-C cable.
- Identify if your microphone is dynamic or condenser.
- Toggle 48V phantom power appropriately for your microphone type.
- Connect headphones to the 3.5mm jack for monitoring.
