This document provides instructions for installing the Elk Home 14514/1 Mini Pendant. Before beginning, ensure power is disconnected at the main fuse box. The installation requires basic electrical knowledge; if you are unfamiliar with the National Electrical Code (NEC) or local codes, please consult a certified electrician.
Safety Warnings
- Always disconnect power at the main fuse box before starting installation.
- Do not exceed the maximum bulb wattage marked on the fixture socket.
- Ensure all wires are securely fastened and not pinched during installation.
Installation Steps
Mounting the Bracket
- Pull house wires out of the junction box.
- Position the mounting bracket (A) so the threaded ends of the fixture mounting screws (E) face downward.
- Pull house wires through the center hole of the mounting bracket.
- Secure the mounting bracket (A) to the junction box using the junction box screws (B).
Chain and Fixture Assembly
- Attach a locking link (G) to the loop on top of the fixture body (O).
- Determine the desired hanging height and cut the chain (H) accordingly.
- Connect the chain to the fixture body using the locking link (G).
- Attach the second locking link (G) to the canopy (D).
- Weave the fixture wires through the chain links, skipping every other link, and push them through the center hole of the canopy (D).
Wiring Connections
- Strip 3/4 inch of insulation from the fixture wires.
- Connect the house ground wire (copper) to the ground screw on the mounting bracket (A) and twist together with the fixture ground wire using a wire nut (C).
- Connect the house lead wire (black) to the fixture lead wire using a wire nut (C).
- Connect the house neutral wire (white) to the fixture neutral wire using a wire nut (C).
- Wrap wire nuts with electrical tape (not included) and push all wires into the junction box.
Final Assembly
- Raise the fixture to the ceiling and place the canopy (D) over the mounting bracket (A).
- Secure the canopy using the threaded caps (F) on the mounting screws (E).
- Install the recommended E26 Edison bulb (not included).
- Attach the glass shade (K) to the fixture body (O) and secure it using the thumbscrews (L).
Practical help
Common problems
Fixture hanging at incorrect height
Adjust the length of the chain (H) before attaching the fixture body to the canopy.
Unsure about wire connections
Follow the provided chart: Connect black lead to black/smooth wire, white neutral to white/ridged wire, and copper to ground.
Wires pinched during installation
Ensure wires are pulled completely through the center hole of the mounting bracket and are not trapped between the bracket and the ceiling.

- Disconnect power at the main fuse box.
- Verify all parts are present in the box.
- Ensure you have an E26 Edison bulb (not included).
