Quick Guide and Safety

This document provides installation instructions for the Elk Home 69510/1 and 69520/1 1-Light Pendant. Before beginning, ensure you have all parts from the box. If any parts are missing, contact the retailer. Installation must comply with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local codes. If you are unfamiliar with these requirements, it is recommended to hire a certified electrician.

Warning: Always disconnect power at the main fuse box before starting any installation work.

Mounting the Fixture

  1. Carefully pull house wires out of the junction box to ensure they are accessible.
  2. If the screw collar loop (W) is not attached to the mounting bracket (A), assemble it by threading the pipe (E) into the bracket and securing it with the hexnut (V).
  3. Place the mounting bracket (A) against the junction box and align the slots.
  4. Secure the mounting bracket (A) to the junction box using the provided junction box screws (B). Ensure house wires are not pinched between the bracket and the ceiling.

Wiring Instructions

Proper wiring is essential for safety. Follow these steps to connect the fixture to your home supply:

Wiring connection diagram
Wiring connection diagram
  • Ground Wire: Loosen the ground screw on the mounting bracket (A). Wrap the house ground wire (copper) around the screw, then twist it together with the fixture ground wire. Secure with a wire nut (C).
  • Black Lead Supply (Hot): Twist the house black lead wire with the fixture lead wire. Secure with a wire nut (C).
  • White Neutral Supply: Twist the house white neutral wire with the fixture neutral wire. Secure with a wire nut (C).
  • Securing Connections: Wrap electrical tape (not included) around the wire nuts and wires to ensure they are securely fastened. Carefully push all wires and nuts into the junction box.

Wiring Reference:

  • Connect Black Lead Supply to: Black wire, or Parallel Cord (Round and Smooth), or Insulated Wire (other than green) with Copper Conductor.
  • Connect White Neutral Supply to: White wire, or Parallel Cord (Square and Ridged), or Insulated Wire (other than green) with Silver Conductor.

Final Assembly

  1. Lower the ring (N) over the fixture body (O).
  2. Push fixture wires through the center stem (M) and screw the stem onto the fixture body.
  3. Determine the desired hanging height and cut the chain (H) accordingly.
  4. Weave the fixture wires through the chain links.
  5. Slide the threaded ring (F) and canopy (D) down over the chain.
  6. Attach the locking link (G) to the chain and the screw collar loop (W).
  7. Raise the canopy (D) to the ceiling and secure it by screwing the threaded ring (F) onto the screw collar loop (W).
  8. Install the recommended bulb (E26 Edison type, not included). Verify the maximum wattage on the socket before installation.

Practical help

Common problems

Wires are difficult to access

Pull house wires down from the junction box before mounting the bracket to ensure they remain accessible.

Canopy does not sit flush against the ceiling

Ensure all wires and wire nuts are pushed completely into the junction box and are not pinched between the canopy and the ceiling.

Bulb not working or flickering

Verify that the bulb wattage does not exceed the maximum rating marked on the fixture socket. Ensure the bulb is an E26 Edison type.

Before use

  • Disconnect power at the main fuse box.
  • Verify all parts are present in the box.
  • Ensure you have electrical tape (not included).
  • Confirm you have an E26 Edison bulb (not included).
  • Consult a certified electrician if you are unfamiliar with NEC code requirements.
