Quick guide from the manual

The Enerlites 55300 is a dimmer switch designed for incandescent, halogen, dimmable LED, and CFL bulbs. It supports both single-pole and 3-way wiring configurations. Before installation, always turn off the power at the circuit breaker. The device features a rocker switch for power, a slider for light level control, and a tuning dial for fine-tuning the lowest light output.

Safety Warnings

  • Turn off power at the circuit breaker or fuse before starting installation.
  • Use copper wire only.
  • Installation should be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with the National Electric Code and local regulations.

3-Way Wiring: Remove the insulating label from the red wire. Connect the HOT wire to the BLACK wire. Connect each RED wire to separate TRAVELER wires. Connect the GROUND wire to the GREEN wire.

Dimmer Adjustment

Use the rocker switch to turn lights on/off. Use the slider to set the light level. To fine-tune the lowest light level, turn the Tuning dial upwards or downwards until the desired level is reached. Do not overturn the dial. If bulbs do not turn on, turn the adjustment dial up until they do.

Multigang Installation

When installing multiple controls in one wall box, you may need to remove the side tabs using pliers. Bend each tab back and forth until they break off. Note that removing these tabs reduces the maximum load capacity of the dimmer.

Practical help

Common problems

Lights do not turn on

Turn the adjustment dial up until all lights come on. Some dimmable CFLs and LEDs require at least two bulbs or 10W total wattage on one lamp for proper operation.

Lowest light level is flickering or unstable

Use the Tuning dial to adjust the lowest light level until the desired level is reached. Do not overturn the dial.

Reduced load capacity

Removing side tabs for multigang installation reduces the maximum load capacity. Check the de-rating chart in the manual if using multiple dimmers.

Before use

  • Turn off power at the circuit breaker.
  • Verify compatibility with LED, CFL, Incandescent, or Halogen bulbs.
  • Ensure you are using copper wire only.
  • Identify if you need Single-Pole or 3-Way wiring.
  • Ensure you have a qualified electrician for installation.
