The American Lighting Simple Select In-line Controller is designed for easy on/off and dimming control of LED tape lights. Important: This controller cannot be used with traditional dimmer switches or other primary side dimming applications. It must be installed on the secondary side of the power supply.
Installation
The controller is designed for simple in-line installation:
- Connect the 12-24V power supply to the input side of the controller.
- Connect the 12-24V tape light to the output side of the controller.
- Secure the controller in a discrete location.
- The unit includes a DC barrel connector to screw down terminal port for plug-and-play compatibility with plug-in power supplies.
Operation
The controller features a push-button interface for controlling your lighting:
- ON / OFF: Long press the power button.
- Modes: Short press the mode button to cycle through dynamic modes.
- Color Switch: Use the color button to cycle through static color settings.
- Brightness: Use the brightness +/- buttons to adjust intensity.
- Speed: Use the speed +/- buttons to adjust the speed of dynamic modes.
Controller Versions and Modes
The Simple Select series is available in five versions, each with specific static color and dynamic mode settings:
- Single Color: Basic on/off and dimming.
- Tunable CCT: Includes 7 static color settings (2700K-6500K) and 10 dynamic mode settings.
- RGB: Includes 10 static color settings and 27 dynamic mode settings.
- RGBW: Includes 15 static color settings and 30 dynamic mode settings.
- RGBTW: Includes 26 static color settings and 33 dynamic mode settings.

Practical help
Common problems
Controller does not work with wall dimmer
The Simple Select controller is not compatible with traditional dimmer switches or primary side dimming applications. Remove the wall dimmer from the circuit.
Light does not turn on
Ensure the power supply is connected to the input side and the tape light is connected to the output side. Verify all wiring connections are secure.
Before use
- Verify the power supply is 12-24V DC.
- Ensure the controller is installed on the secondary side of the power supply.
- Confirm the controller version (Single Color, RGB, etc.) matches your tape light type.
- Do not connect the controller directly to AC power.
