Quick guide from the manual

This manual provides instructions for the assembly, setup, and operation of the FMS 1700mm P-51D Mustang. Before operating, ensure the transmitter is bound to the receiver, the battery is fully charged, and all control surfaces are moving in the correct direction. The model requires a 6-channel radio system and a 22.2V 3300-4000mAh 25C Li-Po battery.

Safety Precautions

  • This is a sophisticated hobby product, not a toy.
  • Operate in an open area away from cars, traffic, and people.
  • Do not operate with low transmitter batteries.
  • Keep all chemicals and small parts out of reach of children.
  • Avoid water exposure to electronics.

Installing the propeller
  • Control Horns: Install control surface horns for the rudder, elevator, and ailerons using the provided screws. Ensure the horn faces the hinge line.
  • Main Wing: Insert fiberglass and aluminum tubes into the wing sockets. Connect the wing halves and secure them using the provided bolts.
  • Stabilizer and Fin: Attach the horizontal stabilizer to the fuselage and secure it with screws. Mount the vertical fin and secure it.
  • Propeller: Install the propeller and spinner set, ensuring all nuts are tightened correctly.

Electronics Installation and Setup

Connect the receiver according to the provided diagram, ensuring all servos (aileron, elevator, rudder, landing gear) are plugged into the correct channels. Secure the battery in the battery hatch using the hook and loop tape. Test all control surfaces for correct movement before flight.

ESC Instruction

The included Electronic Speed Controller (ESC) is pre-connected. It features safety thermal over-load protection and auto throttle shut down. You can program parameters such as brake settings, battery type, and low voltage cutoff. To enter programming mode, switch the transmitter on, set the throttle to maximum, and connect the battery.

Center of Gravity (CG)

The recommended Center of Gravity (CG) is 120mm forward from the leading edge of the main wing. Always balance the plane with the landing gear down and the battery installed.

Practical help

Common problems

Motor does not work, no audible tone

Check battery connection, ensure throttle is at minimum, and verify wiring connections.

Motor runs in reverse

Swap any two of the three motor wires or change the motor rotation setting via ESC programming.

ESC overheats

Ensure adequate ventilation, check for over-sized propeller, or verify servo current draw.

Before use

  • Charge flight battery fully
  • Check all control surfaces for correct movement
  • Verify Center of Gravity (120mm)
  • Ensure transmitter is bound to receiver
  • Check propeller tightness
