Important Information

The FMS 1500mm Maule is a high-performance RC airplane designed for STOL (Short Take-Off and Landing) capabilities. This manual provides essential instructions for assembly, setup, and safe operation. Always prioritize safety and operate in open areas away from people, traffic, and buildings.

Kit Contents

Before assembly, inspect all parts against the kit contents list. Key components include the fuselage, main wing, horizontal and vertical stabilizers, propeller set, landing gear, and optional float set.

Battery and Receiver Setup

Use a 11.1V 2200-3200mAh 50C Li-Po battery. Ensure the battery is secured in the compartment and the center of gravity (CG) is balanced. The recommended CG is 60-70mm from the leading edge of the main wing. Connect servo cables to the receiver according to the provided diagram.

Transmitter and ESC Setup

Bind your receiver to your transmitter. Ensure all control sticks are in neutral and the throttle is in the OFF position. The included ESC is pre-connected but may require calibration. The ESC supports programming via an optional ZTW app or programming card.

Flying the Model

Perform a range check before every flight. During takeoff, apply power slowly to keep the model straight. Monitor flight time using a timer (recommended 4 minutes for the first flight). Land the model when the motor pulses (LVC) or when the timer expires.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting

Regularly check that all screws are tightened and the spinner is secure. Repair foam parts using foam-safe adhesives. If the aircraft does not respond, check the ESC arming, battery charge, and transmitter settings.

Practical help

Common problems

Aircraft will not respond to throttle

Ensure ESC is armed, throttle stick is at the lowest position, and throttle channel is not reversed on the transmitter.

Extra propeller noise or vibration

Check for damaged spinner, propeller, or motor mount. Ensure propeller is installed correctly and all parts are tightened.

Reduced flight time or underpowered

Check if the flight battery is fully charged or damaged. Ensure the propeller is not installed backwards.

Controls reversed

Check transmitter channel settings and reverse the channel if necessary.

Before use

  • Check all screws are tightened.
  • Ensure propeller is securely fastened.
  • Verify battery is fully charged.
  • Perform a ground range check.
  • Check control surface movement direction.
  • Ensure CG is 60-70mm from the leading edge.
