The GARDENA HandyMower 22/18V P4A is a battery-powered lawnmower designed for private domestic gardens. Before use, ensure the battery is fully charged and the safety key is available. The mower features three distinct tube positions: working (22°–70°), parking (70°–105°), and transport (0°–22°). The mower will not start unless the tube is in the working position.
Safety
DANGER! Risk of injury! Do not use the mower to cut bushes, hedges, shrubs, or on slopes steeper than 20°. Always remove the battery and safety key before performing maintenance, cleaning, or transporting the unit. Wear sturdy footwear and long trousers. Keep bystanders and pets away during operation.
Assembly
To assemble the tube: Slide the tube into the tube holder until the noses on the tube are located in the openings of the tube holder. Ensure the starting lockout points forward from the handle. Tighten the clamping sleeve securely.
Operation
Charging: Connect the charger to a mains socket and slide the battery onto the charger. A flashing green light indicates charging; a permanent green light indicates the battery is fully charged.
Starting: Insert the battery into the holder until it engages. Insert the safety key into the handle and turn it to the active position. Push the starting lockout with one hand and pull the start lever with the other.
Mowing: For best results, mow regularly. If the grass is long, mow in one direction at the highest setting first, then crosswise at the desired height. The mower includes a mulching function; grass cuttings do not need to be collected.
Maintenance
Always remove the battery and safety key before cleaning. Clean the underside of the mower with a brush and the provided scraper after use. Do not use high-pressure water or chemicals. Keep the battery and charger contacts clean and dry.
Troubleshooting
If the mower does not start, check that the battery is charged, the safety key is inserted, the tube is in the working position, and the start lever is engaged. If the mower vibrates or runs unevenly, check the blade for damage or dirt.
