This document provides installation and safety instructions for the Hampton Bay 1-Light Wall Lantern. Before beginning, ensure the power is turned off at the electrical panel box. The fixture is designed for outdoor use and must be mounted at least 47.24 inches above the ground. It requires a 4-inch square by 2-1/8-inch deep metal octagon outlet box that is directly supported by the building structure.

Installation

1. Removing the mounting bracket assembly: Loosen the canopy nuts and separate the mounting bracket assembly from the canopy on the fixture.
2. Installing the mounting bracket assembly: Ensure power is off. Pull supply wires out of the outlet box and fasten the mounting bracket assembly to the outlet box using the provided outlet box screws.
3. Making the electrical connections: Attach the ground wire from the outlet box to the green ground screw on the mounting bracket. Connect the negative (white) wire from the fixture to the supply circuit's negative wire, and the positive (black) wire from the fixture to the supply circuit's positive wire using wire connectors. Wrap wire connectors with electrical tape and push all excess wire back into the outlet box.
4. Attaching the canopy to the wall: Raise the canopy up to the outlet box and secure it to the mounting bracket assembly using the canopy nuts. Adjust the length of the mounting bracket studs and hex nuts if necessary.
5. Installing the bulb: Install the bulb (not included) into the bulb socket on the fixture body.
6. Sealing the fixture: To prevent moisture from entering, apply waterproof silicone, caulk, or gel around the canopy and mounting surface to seal any gaps.

Care and Cleaning

To clean the fixture, first disconnect the power at the circuit breaker or fuse box. Use a dry or slightly dampened clean cloth to wipe the interior and exterior surfaces. Never use solvents or harsh abrasives. Allow the fixture to dry completely before restoring power.

Troubleshooting

If the light will not illuminate, check the following:

• Power is off: Ensure the power supply is on.
• Faulty wire connection: Check the wiring. If you are not comfortable troubleshooting, contact a qualified and licensed electrician.
• Faulty switch: Test or replace the switch.
