Quick Guide from the Manual

This guide provides essential information for operating the HiKOKI C 1806DA Cordless Circular Saw. Always ensure the battery is removed before performing any adjustments, maintenance, or blade changes. Before starting, verify that the saw blade is sharp, the lower guard moves freely, and all locking levers are securely tightened. Always wear eye and hearing protection during operation.

Product Overview

The HiKOKI C 1806DA is a cordless circular saw designed for cutting various types of wood. Key components include the switch, switch lock, cutting depth lever, lower guard, saw blade, base, incline wing bolt, and battery mount. The tool features an electric brake that engages when the switch is released.

Operation

Adjusting Cutting Depth: Loosen the cutting depth lever, adjust the base to the desired depth, and securely tighten the lever.

Adjusting Inclination: Loosen the incline wing bolt, tilt the base to the desired angle (up to 45 degrees), and tighten the bolt securely.

Cutting Procedure: Hold the saw firmly with both hands. Ensure the wider portion of the base rests on the solidly supported part of the workpiece. Do not hold short pieces by hand; use clamps. If the blade binds, release the trigger immediately and wait for the blade to stop completely before removing the saw from the cut.

Battery and Charging

The tool is compatible with HiKOKI 18V batteries (BSL18xx series) and Multi Volt batteries. To charge, connect the charger to a power source, insert the battery, and monitor the pilot lamp. A blinking red light indicates charging status. Do not charge the battery if it is overheated; allow it to cool first.

Maintenance and Inspection

Blade Replacement: To replace the blade, remove the battery, use the hex bar wrench to loosen the bolt, remove the washer, and swap the blade. Ensure the blade is installed in the correct direction.

Carbon Brushes: Inspect carbon brushes regularly. Replace them when they are worn to or near the wear limit. Always use genuine HiKOKI carbon brushes.

Lower Guard: Regularly clean the space between the lower guard and the gear cover using dry air to ensure smooth movement. Never fix the lower guard in the open position.

Motor Maintenance: After 50 hours of use, clean the motor by blowing dry air into the ventilation holes to prevent dust accumulation.

Troubleshooting

If the tool does not operate normally, check the following:

  • Tool doesn't run: Check battery charge or installation.
  • Tool suddenly stopped: Check for overload or overheating.
  • Doesn't cut well: Check if the blade is worn, loose, or installed backwards.
  • Switch can't be pulled: Ensure the switch lock is fully pushed in.
  • Sawdust discharge is poor: Clean the inside of the saw cover.
