The HiKOKI DV 18DGAL is a cordless combi drill designed for drilling into brick, concrete, metal, and wood, as well as driving screws. Before use, ensure the battery is fully charged and the work area is free of hidden obstructions like electrical wiring or pipes. Always wear eye and ear protection during operation.
Charging the battery
Before using the tool, charge the battery using the specified charger (UC18YKSL or UC18YFSL).
- Connect the charger power cord to a receptacle. The pilot lamp will blink in red at 1-second intervals.
- Insert the battery firmly into the charger.
- Charging begins automatically. The pilot lamp will light continuously in red while charging.
- When fully charged, the pilot lamp will blink in red at 1-second intervals.
- If the pilot lamp flickers rapidly, check for foreign objects in the connector or ensure the battery is inserted correctly.
Operation
Torque Adjustment: Adjust the clutch dial to set the tightening torque. Do not operate with the dial set between numerals or between the '22' and the drill mark.
Speed Selection: Use the shift knob to change between High (Hs) and Low (Ls) speeds. Ensure the switch is off before changing speeds to avoid gear damage.
Drilling Modes: Select the appropriate mode using the drill/impact selector. Use clockwise rotation for impact drilling.
Rotation Direction: Use the forward/reverse selector button to change the direction of rotation. Ensure the button is fully pressed into position.
Maintenance and inspection
- Tool Inspection: Sharpen or replace dull bits to prevent motor malfunction.
- Mounting Screws: Regularly check that all mounting screws are tightened.
- Cleaning: Wipe the exterior with a soft dry cloth or soapy water. Do not use gasoline, paint thinner, or chloric solvents as they melt plastic.
- Storage: Store in a place where the temperature is below 40°C and out of reach of children. Ensure batteries are fully charged before long-term storage.
Troubleshooting
If the tool does not operate normally, consult the following:
- Tool doesn't run: Check if the battery is charged and securely attached.
- Tool suddenly stopped: The tool may be overloaded. Release the switch and remove the cause of the overload.
- Battery charging doesn't begin: Ensure the battery is inserted fully and the terminals are clean.
- Bit falls off: Ensure the bit is within the 1.5 mm to 13 mm chucking diameter range.
