The HiKOKI P 20SF and P 20ST are electric planers designed for planing various wooden planks and panels. Before using the tool, ensure the power source matches the requirements on the product nameplate and that the power switch is in the OFF position. The use of a residual current device (RCD) with a rated residual current of 30mA or less is recommended for safety.
Operation
Surface Cutting: Rough cutting should be performed at large cutting depths and at a suitable speed to ensure shavings are ejected smoothly. For a smooth finish, perform the final cut at a small cutting depth and low feeding speed.

Adjusting Cutting Depth: Use the cutting depth control knob to adjust the depth of the cut (see Fig. 2).
Maintenance and Inspection
Blade Maintenance: Continued use of dull or damaged blades reduces cutting efficiency and may overload the motor. Sharpen or replace blades as necessary. Blade sharpening intervals depend on the wood type and cutting depth, but generally, sharpening should be done after every 500 meters of cutting.

Carbon Brushes: The motor uses carbon brushes, which are consumable parts. Replace them with new ones of the same number when they are worn to or near the 'wear limit'. Keep the brushes clean and ensure they slide freely in the holders.
Motor Care: The motor winding is the heart of the tool. Take care to ensure the winding does not become damaged or wet with oil or water.
Safety
Always wear eye protection and use personal protective equipment. Keep children and bystanders away while operating the tool. Ensure the power switch is OFF before connecting to a power source. Hold the tool by insulated gripping surfaces to avoid electric shock if the cutter contacts its own cord.
