Quick guide from the manual

The Hilti DST 10-CA is a water-cooled electric wall saw designed for cutting reinforced concrete and masonry. Before operation, ensure the power supply (480V, 3-phase) is properly grounded and protected. Always verify that the rail supports are securely fixed and the blade is mounted in the correct rotation direction. The system requires a water cooling supply of 2-6 bar. Always perform a functional check of the emergency stop and blade guard before starting.

Description

The system consists of the saw head, remote control, rail system, and blade guard. It is designed for use with diamond blades between 600mm and 900mm in diameter. The tool features the Cut Assist function for automated cutting sequences.

Safety

  • Personal Protective Equipment: Always wear safety glasses, hearing protection, safety shoes, and a hard hat.
  • Electrical Safety: Ensure the power supply is connected to a grounded outlet with a residual current device (RCD).
  • Work Area: Keep the work area clean and well-lit. Cordon off the area to prevent unauthorized access.
  • Operation: Never stand in the cutting plane of the moving blade. Never stand under suspended loads.
  • Cooling: If there is a risk of freezing, purge the cooling circuit with compressed air.

Installation

Rail Installation: Mark the anchor positions. Drill holes and install anchors (e.g., Hilti HDI 1/2"). Fix the rail supports and align the rail. Ensure the rail ends extend beyond the cut limits.

Head Mounting: Use the release lever to mount the saw head onto the rail. Ensure the guide rollers are correctly positioned and the clamping lever is locked.

Blade Mounting: Ensure the blade is mounted in the correct rotation direction. Secure the blade flange and tighten the mounting screw firmly using a SW 19 wrench.

Operation

Starting: Perform the pre-start checklist: check rail alignment, power connection, water supply, and emergency stop status. The first cut (pre-cut) should be made with the saw arm in the rear position at a reduced feed speed. Subsequent cuts can be made at full speed.

Cooling Circuit Purge: In case of freezing risk, use the purge adapter to empty the cooling circuit by operating the pump at least 8 times.

Maintenance

  • Daily: Check support surfaces, blade flange, emergency stop, and cooling connections. Clean the blade guard and check for mud/sludge.
  • Weekly: Check guide rollers for smooth movement, inspect cables for damage, and check tire pressure on the transport cart (2.1 bar / 30 PSI).
  • Cleaning: Do not use high-pressure cleaners. Clean with a damp cloth and mild detergent.

Troubleshooting

If the saw is not cutting straight, check the blade tension, rail fixation, and guide rollers. If power is reduced, check the blade specification, feed speed, and rebar content in the material.

Common problems

Blade not cutting straight

Check blade tension, ensure rail fixation is secure, and inspect guide rollers for wear or play.

Reduced cutting power

Verify blade specification is appropriate for the material, check feed speed, and ensure there is not excessive rebar.

Cooling circuit freezing risk

Purge the cooling circuit using the provided adapter and pump until no water remains.

Before use

  • Ensure rail supports are correctly aligned and fixed.
  • Verify power supply is 480V, 3-phase with ground.
  • Check that the blade is mounted in the correct rotation direction.
  • Ensure emergency stop is unlocked.
  • Check water cooling supply (2-6 bar).
