The Hilti DD 110-W is a professional-grade diamond core drilling machine designed for hand-held dry drilling in masonry and wet drilling in concrete and mineral materials. Wet drilling in an upward direction is strictly prohibited. Always use genuine Hilti core bits and accessories. The tool must be operated by trained, authorized personnel.
Product Overview
The machine features a side handle, gear selector, motor, and tool holder. It includes a supply cord with a PRCD (Portable Residual Current Device) for electrical safety. Optional features include a theft protection system (TPS).

Setup and Preparation

- Side Handle: Adjust the side handle by turning it counter-clockwise to loosen, positioning it, and turning clockwise to secure.
- Fitting Core Bits: Ensure the tool holder is clean. Open the tool holder, insert the core bit until the teeth engage, and close the holder. Always wear protective gloves when changing tools.
- Water Supply: For wet drilling, connect the water flow regulator to the machine and attach the water supply hose. Ensure the water pressure does not exceed 6 bar.
- PRCD Operation: Always test the PRCD before use. Plug into an earthed outlet, press the I or RESET button (indicator lights up), press 0 or TEST (indicator goes out), then press I or RESET again to enable.
Drilling Operations

Dry Drilling
Use slotted core bits when working without a dust removal system. If using a vacuum cleaner, connect the machine's supply cord to the vacuum's power outlet (if available) or plug both into the mains. Always route the suction hose to the rear to avoid contact with the core bit.
Wet Drilling
Connect the water supply and slowly open the flow regulator. Apply light pressure initially until the bit centers, then increase pressure. For upward drilling, a wet vacuum cleaner with a water collection system is mandatory.
Care and Maintenance
Always unplug the tool before maintenance. Clean air vents with a dry brush and wipe the casing with a slightly damp cloth. Do not use silicone-based cleaning agents. Replace carbon brushes when the service indicator lights up. After replacement, run the machine under no load for at least 1 minute.
Troubleshooting
- Service indicator lights: Carbon brush wear limit reached; replace soon.
- Drilling speed decreases: Check core bit specification, increase contact pressure, or sharpen the bit on a sharpening plate.
- Core bit doesn't rotate: Gear selector not engaged or bit jammed. Use an open-end wrench to free the bit if necessary.
- Water leaks: Check water pressure or seals.

Practical help
Common problems
Carbon brush wear limit is reached. Have them replaced at the next opportunity.
Check if the core bit is polished (sharpen on a sharpening plate), increase contact pressure, or select a more suitable bit specification.
Ensure the gear selector is fully engaged or free the bit if jammed in the material.
Tighten the core bit securely or clean/grease the connection end. Replace the seal if defective.
Before use
- Check that the PRCD is functioning correctly.
- Ensure the side handle is securely tightened.
- Verify the core bit is compatible and properly seated.
- Check the water supply system for leaks (if wet drilling).
- Wear appropriate PPE: eye protection, hard hat, ear defenders, gloves, and respiratory protection.
- Ensure the work area is clean and well-lit.
Specs in practice
- Speed (1st gear)
- 740 /min
- Speed (2nd gear)
- 1,580 /min
