Quick guide from the manual

This ESC is designed for 1/10 scale crawlers. Before first use, you must perform the throttle range calibration. Ensure your transmitter settings (EPA, D/R, ATL) are at default (100%) and throttle trim is set to 0. Always disconnect the battery after use to prevent deep discharge.

Warnings

  • Ensure all wires are soldered securely to avoid short circuits.
  • Do not set the BEC voltage above the maximum operating voltage of your servo.
  • Always disconnect the battery after use; the ESC has a small power draw even when off.
  • Check gearing and installation setup before operation.

Connections

Follow these wiring guidelines:

  • Motor: For brushless motors, connect #A/#B/#C wires to the motor. If rotation is reversed, swap any two wires or change the "Motor Rotation" setting. For brushed motors, connect to #A/#C. Do not connect to #B.
  • Receiver: Connect the ESC throttle cable to the throttle channel. Do not supply additional power to the receiver if the ESC provides BEC voltage.
  • Battery: Ensure correct polarity (+ to +, - to -). Reverse connection will damage the ESC.

Throttle Range Calibration

Calibration is required on the first use or if a new transmitter/receiver is installed:

  1. Turn on the transmitter with throttle settings at default.
  2. Hold the SET button on the ESC, then turn on the ESC.
  3. Release the SET button when the RED LED flashes.
  4. Neutral Point: With the throttle trigger at neutral, press the SET button. The GREEN LED flashes once and the motor beeps once.
  5. Full Throttle: Pull the trigger to full throttle, press the SET button. The GREEN LED flashes twice and the motor beeps twice.
  6. Full Reverse: Push the trigger to full reverse, press the SET button. The GREEN LED flashes three times and the motor beeps three times.

Programming

You can program the ESC using the SET button or an optional LED/LCD program box.

  • SET Button Method: Hold the SET button while switching on the ESC to enter the menu. Use the SET button to navigate items and values based on LED flash counts.
  • Program Box: Connect the ESC to the program box using the programming cable. Use the ITEM and VALUE buttons to adjust settings.

LED Status

  • Start-up: RED LED solid means no throttle signal or neutral position. GREEN LED flashes indicate the number of LiPo cells.
  • Operation: RED LED solid indicates forward movement. GREEN LED indicates full throttle or full brake.
  • Protection: RED LED flashing indicates low voltage cutoff. GREEN LED flashing indicates thermal protection.

Troubleshooting

If the motor does not start, check the battery connection and switch. If the car runs in reverse, change the "Motor Rotation" setting or swap motor wires. If the ESC enters protection mode, check for overheating or low battery voltage.

Practical help

Common problems

Motor does not start, no light

Check battery connection, soldering, and the power switch.

Car runs in reverse when forward throttle is applied

Change the 'Motor Rotation' parameter or swap two motor wires (brushless) / swap two wires (brushed).

Motor stutters or fails to start

Check 'Motor Type' setting, ensure connections are secure, or check for ESC fault.

Throttle calibration fails

Ensure transmitter throttle channel settings (EPA, D/R) are at 100% and trim is at 0.

Before use

  • Ensure all wires are properly soldered and secured.
  • Set transmitter throttle channel EPA/D/R to 100%.
  • Set transmitter throttle trim to 0.
  • Verify battery voltage is within 2-4S LiPo range.
  • Confirm 'Motor Type' setting matches your motor (Brushed/Brushless).
