Quick guide from the manual

This guide provides essential information for setting up and using your Honeywell Granit XP 199xi series scanner. For detailed programming, refer to the full manual. Ensure your scanner is charged for at least 4 hours before initial use. To connect, use the appropriate interface cable (USB, RS232, RS485, or Keyboard Wedge) and ensure it is securely locked into the scanner or base.

Getting Started

Upon unpacking, check for shipping damage and ensure all items match your order. Save the shipping container for future use. The Granit XP series includes corded and cordless models (SR, XR, and XLR) designed for harsh environments.

Connecting the Scanner

To connect a corded scanner, push the cable tightly into the scanner, slide the locking plate over the connector, and tighten the screw. For cordless bases, ensure cables are secured in the wireways at the bottom of the base. When using USB, the unit defaults to a USB PC Keyboard. For RS232, ensure the host terminal is set to the same baud rate as the scanner.

Cordless System Operation

The cordless base links the scanner to the host system. To pair, place the scanner in the base or scan the linking barcode. The system supports Batch Mode for storing data when out of range. The battery is integrated into the handle; use only Honeywell-approved battery packs (BAT-SCN05 or legacy models).

Programming

Honeywell scanners are factory-programmed for common settings. To change settings, scan the appropriate barcodes in this guide. You can set custom defaults, program interface types, and configure symbology settings (e.g., Code 39, QR Code, Data Matrix).

Maintenance and Troubleshooting

Clean the scanner housing and window with a soft cloth dampened with water or a mild detergent solution. Do not use solvents like acetone. If the scanner is not reading symbols, check for smearing, scratches, or if the symbology is enabled. If the barcode is displayed but not entered, you may need to program a suffix (e.g., CR).
