The Lincoln Electric Weld-Pak 180i MP DV is a multi-process, dual-voltage welder designed for MIG, Flux-Cored, Stick, and TIG welding. It features automatic process detection and an intuitive interface. Before welding, ensure the machine is connected to the correct power source (120V or 230V) and that the correct polarity and consumables are installed for your chosen process.
Overview
This portable welder weighs 34.5 lbs and is suitable for various applications including light construction, metal fabrication, and home projects. It is capable of welding up to 1/2 inch thick materials.

What's Included
The package includes the following essential items:

- Magnum 100L MIG gun with 10 ft cable
- 200 Amp stick electrode holder
- 300 Amp ground clamp
- 6 ft, 6 gauge work cable with DINSE connector
- 230V to 120V adapter
- Shielding gas regulator and hose
- Wire spool adapter for 10 and 12.5 lb spools
- Assorted contact tips and nozzles
Setup and Operation
The machine features an internal process chart located inside the wire feeder door to assist with setup. Follow these general steps:

- Mode Selection: Press the Weld Mode Selector button on the front panel to toggle between WIRE, TIG, and STICK modes.
- Wire Installation: Release the tension adjuster arm, position the spool, and secure it with the retaining knob. Ensure the correct drive roll is installed (.025 or .030/.035). Guide the wire over the drive roll and into the gun liner.
- Polarity: Use the internal connections to set the correct polarity for your process (e.g., DC+ for MIG with gas, DC- for self-shielded flux-cored).
- Settings: Determine your wire type and plate thickness, then refer to the internal process chart to set the V/A letter and Wire Feed Speed number.
Controls and Interface
The front panel includes a single button for multi-process selection and two main knobs for Voltage/Amperage (V/A) and Wire Feed Speed. Status indicators provide feedback on machine operation. The unit includes built-in thermal protection to prevent damage to internal components.

Maintenance and Consumables
Regular maintenance involves checking the drive rolls and ensuring the gun liner is clear. The machine supports various Lincoln Electric consumables, including SuperArc L-56 MIG wire, Innershield flux-cored wire, and various stick electrodes (e.g., 6011, 7018). Always ensure the gun is fully seated and the thumb screw is tightened before operation.

Common problems
Wait for the machine to reset.
Check drive roll tension and ensure the correct drive roll is installed.
Check machine status indicators and verify all connections.
Before use
- Ensure power source matches (120V or 230V).
- Verify correct polarity for the chosen process.
- Check that the gun is fully seated.
- Ensure the correct contact tip and nozzle are installed.
- Check gas supply if using MIG or TIG.
Specs in practice
- Wire Feed Speed
- Speed at which the welding wire is fed into the weld pool (40-500 ipm).
Images and diagrams
- The internal wire feeder door contains a process chart for setting V/A and wire speed based on material thickness.
- The front panel features knobs for Voltage/Amperage and Wire Feed Speed.
Model compatibility
- Aluminum welding requires the optional K5341-1 Magnum spool gun.
- TIG welding requires a TIG torch (not included).
