This guide provides the necessary steps to install the Minka Lavery 5172 wall mount light fixture. Always prioritize safety by shutting off the power at the fuse box or circuit breaker before beginning any work.
Preparation and Safety
- Power Off: Ensure the power is completely shut off at the fuse box or circuit breaker.
- Clear Workspace: Unpack the fixture and lay out all parts on a clear surface to ensure nothing is lost.
- Hardware Check: Verify you have the hanging bracket, ground screw, mounting screws, and junction box screws.
Mounting the Fixture

- Secure the hanging bracket (A) to the outlet box using the provided junction box screws (B).
- Ensure the side of the hanging bracket marked "GND" is facing outward.
Wiring Connections
Connect the electrical wires as follows:

- Black/Smooth Wire: Connect to the Black (Hot) house wire.
- White/Ribbed Wire: Connect to the White (Neutral) house wire.
- Ground Wire: If the junction box has a ground wire (green or bare copper), connect the fixture's ground wire to it. Otherwise, connect the fixture's ground wire directly to the hanging bracket using the provided green screw.
- Finishing: Ensure all wire connectors are secure and carefully tuck the wires into the junction box.
Final Assembly
- Mount the back plate (D) to the hanging bracket (A) and secure it with the mounting screws (C).
- Place the glass shade (F) over the socket (E).
- Secure the glass in place using the socket ring (G) and the provided wrench (H).
- Install the light bulb(s) according to the fixture's specifications. Do not exceed the maximum wattage.
- Restore power to the junction box and test the fixture.

Before use
- Shut off power at the fuse box or circuit breaker.
- Remove old fixture and mounting hardware if necessary.
- Verify all parts are present (hanging bracket, screws, glass, socket ring).
