The Redback A 2365 is a 5-zone attenuator panel designed for 100V PA systems. It allows for individual volume control of up to five zones, with a total load capacity of 500W (100W per zone). The unit features a 24V DC override relay, which is essential for emergency evacuation systems to bypass volume settings and broadcast at full volume.
Overview and Features
- Rack Mount: Standard 2RU 19-inch rack mount dimensions.
- Capacity: 500W total load, 100W per zone.
- Control: Each zone features 10 attenuation positions plus an off setting.
- Override: Includes a 24V DC override relay for emergency announcements.
- Installation: Easy-to-terminate screw terminals.
Connection Details
Each of the five attenuators is independent. The system requires a 100V PA amplifier output as the source. Important: Do not connect to voice coil (ohm) amplifiers. Speakers connected to the output must be fitted with 100V line transformers with a load no greater than 100 watts per zone.

Wiring the Override Relay
To use the override feature, connect a 24V DC supply to the designated terminals. When 24V DC is applied, the volume control is bypassed, allowing audio to pass at full volume regardless of the knob position.
Troubleshooting
- Zone always at low volume: Check the terminal connections for both the input and output to ensure they are secure.
- Zone always at maximum volume: Check the 24VDC terminals to ensure that voltage is not being applied incorrectly.
Specifications
- Power Rating: 500W total (100W per zone).
- Relay Override Voltage: 24V DC.
- Attenuation Steps: Off, 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21, 27, and 33dB.
- Dimensions: 484W x 50D x 88H mm.
- Weight: 4kg.

Common problems
Check the terminal connections for both the input and output to ensure the connection is secure.
Check the 24VDC terminals to ensure that voltage is not being applied to them.
Before use
- Ensure all speakers are fitted with 100V line transformers.
- Verify the PA amplifier output is 100V (do not connect to voice coil/ohm amplifiers).
- Check that the total load per zone does not exceed 100W.
- Ensure a 24V DC power supply is available if the override feature is required.
- Verify that the total system load does not exceed 500W.
Specs in practice
- Power rating
- 500W total capacity, with a maximum of 100W per individual zone.
