The ROTHENBERGER Robend 4000 E is a cordless bending machine designed for bending copper, stainless steel, and carbon steel pipes. Before starting, ensure the work area is clear of obstacles. Always remove the battery before performing any maintenance or adjustments on the machine.

Overview
The machine consists of a battery, reverse lever, handle, bolt housing, tripod, bending segment, former fastening shaft, ROLUB bending shoe, slide fastening bolt, and a series bending scale.

Changing the battery
Slide the battery into the machine until it clicks into place. To remove, press the locking mechanism and pull the battery out. Using a battery with at least 4.0Ah is recommended for optimal performance with large diameter pipes.
Commissioning
The unit allows for automatic setting of the bending angle between 0° and 180°. Loosen the graduated scale surrounding the former shaft, align it to the desired angle, and tighten the screws.

Operation
Follow these steps for bending:
- Select the appropriate bending former and shoe for the pipe size.
- Ensure the machine is in the start position by running the motor with the direction lever in the reverse position until it triggers off and moves to neutral.
- Insert the bending former into the former fastening shaft.
- Place the pipe into the bending former and secure it in the counter-bearing. Ensure the pipe is fully inserted and in contact with the entire surface of the counter-bearing.
- Secure the bending shoe with the fastening bolt.
- Verify the start position by ensuring the '0' mark on the bending former aligns with the center of the bending shoe.
- Shift the direction lever to the working position and press the motor switch to start bending.
- Maintain pressure on the switch until the desired angle is reached, then release.
- After bending, shift the direction lever to the reverse position and briefly press the motor switch to release the pipe.
Charger and battery
Before commissioning the charger, ensure the air slots are free with a minimum distance of 5 cm from other objects. Insert the mains plug to perform a self-test. Charge the battery before first use. The battery status can be checked by pressing the capacity indicator button.

Care and maintenance
Remove the battery before any work on the machine. Regularly check that the motor switch unblocks automatically when released. Replace the grease every 500 operating hours using LGMT2 grease by SKF or similar. Repairs must only be performed by authorized specialists.
Troubleshooting
If the bending former stops during operation while the motor is running, check the direction lever position. If the machine does not start, check electrical connections and carbon brushes. If bends are not round, check if the former/shoe matches the tube size or if they are worn out.
Disposal
Components are recyclable. Do not dispose of electric tools or batteries in household waste. Follow local environmental regulations for recycling.
