Quick guide from the manual

This manual provides essential safety and operational instructions for the Sealey 1000E.V2 and 1500E.V2 floor transmission jacks. Before using the equipment, ensure the floor is level, solid, and clean. Always verify that the gearbox weight does not exceed the jack's rated capacity. Before the first use, you must purge the hydraulic circuit to remove air accumulated during transit: open the release valve (turn anti-clockwise), pump the handle 15-20 times, and close the valve (turn clockwise).

Specifications

The 1000E.V2 model has a 1000kg capacity with a saddle height range of 180mm to 885mm. The 1500E.V2 model has a 1500kg capacity with a saddle height range of 215mm to 950mm. Both models feature adjustable saddle tilt for precise gearbox alignment.

Operation

The saddle tilt mechanism allows for forward, backward, and side-to-side adjustment to assist in supporting and transporting the gearbox. Use the adjusters to set the pitch and tilt before lifting. To position the jack, ensure the vehicle is correctly raised and locked on a lift system. Once the saddle is beneath the transmission, adjust the alignment, raise the saddle to support the load, and secure it with the provided safety chains. When lowering, turn the release valve slowly to control the descent speed.

Maintenance

Only qualified personnel should perform maintenance. Keep the jack clean and free of oil or grease. Lubricate moving parts with acid-free oil. When not in use, store the jack with the saddle in the lowest position to prevent corrosion. Use only Sealey hydraulic jack oil; never use brake fluid. Periodically check the pump piston and rod for corrosion.

Troubleshooting

If the jack fails to lift, check for low hydraulic oil, a defective suction/delivery valve, or an open release valve. If the jack only lifts halfway, the hydraulic oil level may be low. If the raised load will not hold, it may indicate defective valves or piston packing. In these cases, contact an authorised service agent.

Practical help

Common problems

Jack will not lift

Check for low hydraulic oil, defective suction or delivery valve, or ensure the release valve is closed.

Jack only lifts halfway

Check hydraulic oil level; it may be low or overfilled.

Raised load will not hold

Indicates defective valves or piston packing; contact an authorised service agent.

Poor lifting performance

Likely due to defective plunger packing; contact an authorised service agent.

Before use

  • Check for damaged, broken, cracked, or bent parts.
  • Ensure the floor is level, solid, and clean.
  • Purge the hydraulic circuit before first use (pump 15-20 times with valve open).
  • Verify gearbox weight does not exceed jack capacity.
  • Ensure the saddle is clean, dry, and oil-free.
  • Check that all nuts, bolts, and seals are secure.

Images and diagrams

  • The diagrams illustrate the saddle tilt adjustment mechanisms (A, B, C, D) used to align the transmission during removal.

Model compatibility

  • Use only Sealey hydraulic jack oil.
  • Do not use on tarmacadam or soft surfaces.
  • Do not use brake fluid.
  • Not for use as a load-sustaining device for vehicles.
