Quick guide from the manual
The Sealey 1000TR is a 1 Tonne vertical transmission jack designed for workshop use. Before use, ensure the jack is on level, solid ground (preferably concrete) and that the load does not exceed the rated capacity. Always perform a pre-use check to ensure no parts are damaged or leaking. Never use the jack on soft surfaces like tarmacadam.
Safety Warnings
- DANGER: Do not use on tarmacadam or soft surfaces as the jack may sink or topple.
- DANGER: If the jack tips or leans, move to a safe distance immediately. Do not attempt to hold or steady the jack.
- Do not use the jack as a load-sustaining device; it is for removal, transportation, and installation only.
- Do not exceed the rated capacity of 1000kg.
- Do not use brake fluid to top up the hydraulic unit; use only Sealey hydraulic jack oil.
- Ensure the load is placed level and centrally on the saddle and fixed in place before lifting or transporting.
Assembly
Unpack the product and check for any damaged or missing parts. Assemble the wheels as shown in the parts diagram. Screw the legs to the base of the stand, ensuring the stand is at a right angle to the horizontal plane, and tighten the leg screws. Place the saddle on the end of the ram. Remove the transportation oil plug and replace it with the operating plug (which has a hole in it), identified as the Air Vent Valve.

Pre-Use Checklist
Before each use, inspect the jack for damage, cracks, leaks, or loose parts. If the jack is being used for the first time, purge the hydraulic circuit:
- Open the safety release control by turning the knob anti-clockwise.
- Pump the foot pump 15 to 20 times.
- Turn the safety release control clockwise to close the valve.
Operation
Positioning the Jack
Ensure the vehicle is correctly positioned, raised, and locked on an appropriate lift system. Ensure the saddle is in the lowest position. Use the handle to transport and centrally position the jack beneath the vehicle transmission. Raise the saddle by pumping the foot pedal. Re-adjust alignment if necessary.
Lowering the Load
Ensure the load is central and stable. Slowly turn the release valve knob anti-clockwise to gently lower the saddle. The speed of lowering is controlled by the release valve; turning the knob quicker results in a more rapid descent.
Transporting the Load
Ensure the saddle is fully lowered and the load is fixed. Transport over level, solid ground. Keep all personnel at a safe distance.
Maintenance
Only qualified personnel should perform maintenance. When not in use, keep the saddle in the lowest position to minimize ram and piston corrosion. Keep the jack clean and wipe off oil or grease. Lubricate moving parts with acid-free oil. Periodically check the pump piston and rod for corrosion. The oil cylinder is a sealed unit and must not be accessed; contact an authorized stockist for service.
Troubleshooting
If the jack will not lift, check for low hydraulic oil, a defective suction/delivery valve, or ensure the release valve is closed. If the jack only lifts halfway, check for low or excess hydraulic oil. If a raised load will not hold, it may indicate defective valves or piston packing. In most cases, contact an authorized service agent for repairs.
