This manual provides essential instructions for the Sealey 10QJ.V5 10 Tonne Long Reach Trolley Jack. Before use, ensure the jack is on level, solid ground (concrete is recommended). Always use wheel chocks and ensure the vehicle handbrake is engaged. Never use the jack as the sole means of support; always transfer the load to axle stands. The jack features a foot-operated quick lift system for positioning and a handle-operated release valve for controlled lowering.
Safety Instructions
- Use the jack for lifting only, not for supporting the load.
- Always use axle stands under the vehicle before working beneath it.
- Ensure the lifting point is stable and centered on the saddle.
- Do not exceed the rated capacity of 10 tonnes.
- Keep the work area clean and free from unrelated materials.
- Ensure a minimum distance of 0.5m between the vehicle and static objects.
- Do not adjust the safety overload valve.
- Use only genuine parts and hydraulic jack oil.
Assembly
To assemble the handle:
- Push the handle into the clamp.
- Turn the handle until the key engages with the release valve rod.
- Tighten the clamp bolt.
- Ensure the locking lever is turned to engage in the top of the three holes to keep the handle in the vertical position.
- Before initial operation, purge air from the system by fully opening the release valve (turn anticlockwise) and pumping the handle rapidly several times while holding the saddle down.
- Lubricate the pump piston and moving parts with a few drops of hydraulic jack oil.
Operation

Raising the Jack
- Turn the release valve handle clockwise until resistance is felt to close the valve. Do not over-tighten.
- Position the jack saddle under the vehicle manufacturer’s recommended lifting point.
- Use the foot pedal to raise the saddle quickly to the load.
- Move the locking lever to the jacking position and pump the handle to raise the load to the desired height.
- Transfer the load to axle stands immediately.
Lowering the Jack
Slowly turn the release valve handle anticlockwise. The speed of descent is controlled by how much the valve is turned. Ensure no persons or obstacles are beneath the vehicle before lowering.
Maintenance
- Keep the jack clean and lubricate all moving parts regularly.
- Every 3 months, grease the lifting arm pivot pin and rear castors via the provided grease nipples.
- Check oil level only in exceptional cases: place on a level surface, lower the saddle, remove the top cover, and top up via the rubber bung on the cylinder.
- Use only Sealey Hydraulic Jack Oil. Do not use brake fluid.
- If the jack is unserviceable, drain fluids into an approved container and dispose of according to local regulations.
Troubleshooting
If the jack fails to lift or hold the load, check for overloading, ensure the release valve is closed, purge air from the system, or check the oil level. If the jack fails to lower, ensure the release valve is fully open and clean, and lubricate external moving parts. Contact a local service agent for internal defects.
