Quick guide from the manual

This trolley jack is designed for lifting vehicles only. It is not intended to support the load once lifted. Always use correctly rated axle stands to support the vehicle before working underneath it. Ensure the jack is used on level, solid ground and that the vehicle handbrake is engaged.

Safety Instructions

  • DANGER: Use the jack for lifting only, NOT for supporting the lifted load.
  • Always use axle stands under the vehicle before proceeding with any task.
  • Ensure the jack is in sound condition before use.
  • Use the jack on level and solid ground (avoid tarmacadam).
  • Ensure the vehicle handbrake is engaged and the engine is off.
  • Do not exceed the rated capacity of 2 tonnes (2000kg).
  • Do not adjust the safety overload valve.
  • Do not use brake fluid or any fluid other than hydraulic jack oil.

Assembly

To assemble the jack for use:

Handle insertion into jacking socket

Release valve operation
Release valve operation
  • Handle Insertion: Place the handle into the jacking socket and turn it to engage the external pin (see Fig.1).
  • Release Valve: Engage the cross pin in the open end of the handle with the slot in the end of the release valve (see Fig.2).

Operation

Before First Use

Purge the hydraulic unit to eliminate air:

  1. Place the handle onto the release valve nut and turn anti-clockwise to open the valve.
  2. Place the handle into the jacking socket and pump for 30 to 40 seconds.
  3. Close the release valve by turning the nut clockwise.
  4. Apply a few drops of hydraulic jack oil to the pump piston and pump the handle to distribute the oil.

Jacking the Vehicle

  1. Close the release valve using the handle.
  2. Position the jack saddle under the vehicle manufacturer’s recommended lifting point.
  3. Pump the handle up and down until the saddle reaches the lifting point.
  4. Ensure the lifting point is centrally located on the saddle and raise the vehicle.

Lowering the Vehicle

  1. Raise the jack slightly to remove axle stands if used.
  2. Place the handle onto the release valve nut and turn anti-clockwise very slowly.
  3. The lowering speed is controlled by how much you turn the handle. Lower carefully to avoid shock loading the hydraulic system.

Maintenance

Oil filler plug location
Oil filler plug location
  • Storage: Store the jack fully lowered in a safe, dry, childproof area. Remove the handle when not in use.
  • Lubrication: Keep the jack clean and lubricate all moving parts regularly.
  • Oil Level: To check the oil, fully lower the jack and remove the oil filler plug (Fig.3). The level should be just below the bottom of the plug. Use only hydraulic jack oil.
  • Inspection: Before each use, check for broken, cracked, bent, or loose parts.

Troubleshooting

If the jack fails to operate correctly, check the following:

  • Jack will not lift: Check for overload, low oil level, or air in the system. Ensure the release valve is closed.
  • Jack feels spongy: This usually indicates air in the system or incorrect oil levels.
  • Jack will not lower: Check if the release valve is fully open and ensure the unit is lubricated.

Common problems

Jack will not lift the load

Check for overload, low oil level, or air in the system. Ensure the release valve is closed.

Jack feels spongy

Check oil level (fill or remove excess) or purge air from the system by opening the release valve and pumping.

Jack will not lower completely

Lubricate external moving parts, check for bent piston rod, or ensure the release valve is fully open.

Before use

  • Ensure jack is on level, solid ground.
  • Engage vehicle handbrake.
  • Check lifting points recommended by vehicle manufacturer.
  • Ensure no passengers are in the vehicle.
  • Verify jack is not damaged or leaking.
  • Ensure axle stands are available for support.

Specs in practice

Minimum Saddle Height
130mm (lowest point of the saddle).
Maximum Saddle Height
330mm (highest point of the saddle).

Model compatibility

  • Use only hydraulic jack oil. Do not use brake fluid.
  • Only use for lifting; do not use to support the load.
  • Maintenance of the hydraulic system must be performed by a qualified person.
