Product Overview

The Sealey VSE2242.V2 is a 10-piece fuel pump timing kit designed for precision timing of distributor-type diesel fuel pumps. It is compatible with Bosch VE rotary, Kiki, Nippon Denso, and CAV Rotodiesel systems featuring a top entry port. This tool is essential for maintenance on cars and light commercial vehicles equipped with these fuel injection systems.

Safety Precautions

Always adhere to local health and safety regulations and general workshop practices. Ensure the vehicle is properly supported on axle stands if jacked up. Wear approved eye protection and suitable clothing to avoid snagging; remove jewelry and tie back long hair. Never attempt to start the engine or move the vehicle while timing devices are fitted. Always consult the vehicle manufacturer's service manual for specific timing data and procedures.

Operation

The kit includes a dial test indicator (DTI) and various adaptors to suit different port sizes. To operate, first clean the area around the pump service port. Select the appropriate M8 adaptor and extension based on the pump requirements. If the pump has an M12 port, use the provided M8-M12 converter. Attach the DTI to the adaptor and insert it into the pump port. Pre-load the DTI by approximately 1mm by bringing the extension into contact with the pump plunger, then lock it in place. Zero the DTI bezel. Rotate the crankshaft backwards until the DTI pointer stops moving, verify the 1mm pre-load, and re-zero. Finally, rotate the crankshaft forward to the static timing point and compare the reading against the manufacturer's specifications.
