Safety Instructions
- Do not leave the appliance unattended when plugged in.

Assembly
Follow the specific instructions for your caster system (Caster Feet, Rear Caster Basket, or Rear Caster Dolly). Ensure the tank is upside down and the cord is disconnected before assembly. Secure all components with the provided screws. If your unit includes a carriage handle or tool holder, align the holes/tabs and secure them tightly.
Operation
To set up the vacuum:
- Ensure the correct filter is installed.
- Secure the tank cover with all lid latches.
- Insert the hose into the inlet and tighten the locking nut.
- Attach the desired accessory.
- Plug into a grounded outlet.
Filter Installation and Maintenance
The filtration system is critical for motor protection.
- Cartridge Filter: Used for dry pick-up and small amounts of wet pick-up. Lock into place using the filter retainer.
- Foam Sleeve: Used for large quantities of liquid. Slide over the lid cage.
- Disposable Filter Bag: Use with the cartridge filter for easy debris disposal and fine dust/powders.
Blower Feature
To use the blower feature:
- Clear the hose of debris.
- Remove the blower port cover (if equipped) on the back of the tank cover.
- Insert the hose end into the blower port and twist to tighten.
Emptying Liquid Waste
Turn off and unplug the unit. If your model has a tank drain, remove the drain cap to empty. If not, remove the tank cover and pour the liquid into a suitable drain. Use the side carry handles for lifting.
Troubleshooting
If the vacuum fails to start, check the power source or contact customer service. If dust discharges from the exhaust, check that the filter is installed correctly or replace it. For loss of suction, check for a full tank, clogged filter, or loose hose connection.

Common problems
Vacuum will not start
Check power at the receptacle. If the switch or motor is defective, contact Shop-Vac customer service.
Dust discharging from exhaust
Ensure the filter is installed correctly, not damaged, or clogged. Use a more efficient filter for fine dust.
Loss of suction
Tighten hose connection, clean or replace the filter, empty the tank, or replace the hose if punctured.
Static shock
Add moisture to the air (use a humidifier). This is a temporary condition in dry environments.
Before use
- Ensure the correct filter is installed for the task (dry vs. wet).
- Check that all lid latches are securely clamped.
- Verify the hose is properly connected and locked.
- Ensure the power cord is in good condition.
- Wear safety goggles.
