This document provides technical specifications and operational guidelines for the SilverStone HELA 1200R Platinum ATX power supply. It is designed for desktop systems and supports the Intel ATX 3.0 standard, including the 12VHPWR PCIe connector.

Technical specifications
The power supply is designed for continuous operation within the following electrical parameters:
- AC Input: 90-264Vrms, 47-63Hz.
- DC Output: Provides stable voltage for +12V, +5V, +3.3V, -12V, and +5Vsb rails.
- Efficiency: Cybenetics Platinum certified (Overall Efficiency: ≥89% to <91%).
- MTBF: 100,000 hours minimum at full load and 25°C.
Output protection features
The unit includes several protection mechanisms to ensure system safety:
- Over Voltage Protection (OVP): Latch-mode protection for +12V, +5V, and +3.3V rails.
- Under Voltage Protection (UVP): Latch-mode protection for main rails.
- Over Current Protection (OCP): Monitors current on all rails.
- Short-circuit Protection: Shuts down and latches off if output rails are shorted.
- Over Power Protection: Activates at 110% to 150% over peak load.
- Over Temperature Protection: Activates between 50°C and 70°C at 115V full load.
Connector safety and overuse definition
To prevent damage or malfunction, ensure that connected devices do not exceed the following power limits:

- PCIe 8-pin cable: Maximum 12.5A (150W). Do not exceed 225W total for a single connector setup (150W from cable + 75W from motherboard slot) or 375W for dual connector setups.
- Peripheral (Molex) / SATA: Maximum 5A (60W for +12V or 25W for +5V).
- 24-pin Motherboard connector: Maximum 5A per dual +12V metal pin (120W total).
SilverStone warranty does not cover damages resulting from exceeding these connector limits.
Environmental requirements

- Operating Temperature: 0°C to +50°C (derating from 100% to 80% load between 40°C and 50°C).
- Storage Temperature: -20°C to +70°C.
- Humidity: 20% to 90% relative humidity (non-condensing) during operation.
- Altitude: Up to 16,404 feet (5000 meters) operating.
Timing and control signals
The power supply utilizes standard control signals for system integration:

- PWR_OK: A power good signal asserted high when the +5V output is within regulation.
- PS_ON: An active-low signal allowing the motherboard to remotely control the power supply (soft on/off).
- +5Vsb: Standby voltage output active whenever AC power is present, supporting features like Wake on LAN.

Practical help
Common problems
Check for short circuits on output rails or excessive load. If the unit latches into shutdown, remove the fault condition and cycle the PS_ON signal OFF/ON with a minimum OFF time of 1 second.
Ensure that graphics cards or expansion cards do not exceed the maximum power ratings for PCIe 8-pin (150W per cable) or SATA/Molex connectors (60W/25W).
Before use
- Verify AC input voltage is within the 90-264V range.
- Ensure ambient temperature is within 0°C to 50°C.
- Check that total power draw of graphics cards does not exceed connector limits.
- Ensure proper ventilation for the power supply chassis.
- Confirm all cables are securely connected to components.
Images and diagrams
- Timing Diagram: Shows the sequence of AC power, PS_ON, DC outputs, and PWR_OK signals during startup and shutdown.
- Connector Overuse: Illustrates the physical limits of PCIe and motherboard connectors to prevent melting or damage.
- Temperature Derating: Shows the load capacity decrease as ambient temperature rises above 40°C.
Model compatibility
- Supports Intel ATX 3.0 standard.
- Supports 12VHPWR PCIe connector.
