This document provides essential instructions for installing and configuring the Speco Technologies O8VT3M network camera. Ensure the mounting surface can support three times the weight of the camera and junction box. The device requires a 12VDC Class 2 power supply or a compatible PoE switch. Default login credentials for the web interface are username admin and password 1234.

Safety and maintenance

  • Electrical safety: Always ground the product to reduce the risk of electric shock. Use only certified 12VDC Class 2 power supplies or adequate PoE switches.
  • Environment: Do not install near heat sources, power lines, or radar equipment. Ensure the installation environment is within the specified temperature and humidity range.
  • Maintenance: Shut down and unplug the device before maintenance. Do not touch the CMOS sensor. Clean the lens using a blower or an oil-free soft brush. For grease or fingerprints, use an oil-free cloth with alcohol or detergent, wiping from the center outward.

Installation

  1. Junction box: Open the mounting base and upper cover. Use the drill template to mark and drill holes on the wall. Install the junction box using the provided screws.
  2. SD card: Loosen the set screw to disassemble the camera. Remove the cover from the camera unit to insert the micro SD card. Reinstall the cover firmly.
  3. Mounting: Fasten the camera onto the junction box.
  4. Wiring: Route cables through the cable hole and connect them. Use the water-proof connector for outdoor installations.
  5. Adjustment: Adjust the camera angle while previewing the image on a monitor, then tighten the set screw to secure the position.

Web operation and login

Ensure the camera and PC are on the same local network. The camera is set to DHCP by default. Use the IP Scanner software (available on the CD or at https://www.specotech.com/ip-scanner/) to locate the device. Double-click the device in the list to open the web viewer, or enter the IP address directly into a browser. Log in using the default credentials: admin / 1234.

Common problems

Poor IR functionality or reflection

Clean the enclosure using a professional optical cleaning method; do not use cloth directly on the enclosure.

Dirt on the lens

Use an oil-free soft brush or hair dryer to remove dirt gently.

Grease or fingerprints on the lens

Use an oil-free cotton cloth or paper soaked with alcohol or detergent, wiping from the center outward.

Before use

  • Verify the wall or ceiling is strong enough to withstand three times the weight of the camera and junction box.
  • Check that all components listed in the package contents are present.
  • Ensure a certified 12VDC Class 2 power supply or PoE switch is available.
  • Ensure the camera and PC are connected to the same local network.
