Before beginning the installation of your 0843-1P 1-Light Pendant, ensure you have read all instructions. All installation work must be performed by an accredited professional. Always shut off the power supply at the fuse or circuit breaker before starting. Use only the specified bulbs and do not exceed the maximum recommended wattage.
Lighting Placement Recommendations
Proper placement ensures the best lighting for your space:

- Kitchen Island: Center a linear pendant over the island. If using hanging pendants, use one for every 24 inches of island length. Fixtures should hang at least 30 inches above the countertop.
- Dining Room Table: Fixtures should hang at least 30 inches above the table. Use a fixture that is 12 inches narrower than the width of the table.
- Open Areas: The bottom of the fixture should hang at least 7.5 feet from the floor. Ensure there is clearance for any opening doors.
Assembly and Installation
Follow these steps to assemble and install your fixture:

- Preparation: Remove the fixture and parts bag from the carton. Attach the mounting strap (A) to the junction box using mounting screws (B).
- Height Adjustment: Unscrew the canopy loop collar (I) from the canopy loop (H). Test the height by passing the canopy (G) over the loop. Adjust the nipple (F) and canopy loop (H) until the desired height is reached.
- Chain Assembly: Measure the required chain length. Use pliers to remove excess chain (J). Attach chain connectors (K) to the chain. Pass fixture wires through the top loop (L) and up through the chain.
- Wiring: Have an assistant support the fixture's weight. Connect the fixture wires to the house supply wires using wire connectors. Ensure all twists are in the same direction.
- Finishing: Push the canopy (G) to the ceiling and secure it with the canopy loop collar (I). Slide the shade (N) over the socket (M) and secure it with the socket ring (P). Install the light bulb (not included).
Wiring Guide
Correct wiring is essential for safety. Identify your wires as follows:

- Hot Wire: Smooth, black, or transparent with black inner thread.
- Neutral Wire: Ribbed, white, or transparent with white inner thread.
- Ground Wire: Copper, bare metal, green, or transparent with green inner thread.
If there is no house ground wire, wrap the fixture's ground wire around the ground screw (E) on the mounting strap.
