The Tornado SMSASM is a 4-gallon 18V battery-powered sprayer designed for water-soluble chemicals like fertilizers and pesticides. Key operations include charging the battery, assembling the straps and nozzle, priming the pump if necessary, and performing regular maintenance like rinsing the tank after use. Always use SprayMate branded batteries and adapters to ensure safety and performance.

Safety precautions

• Chemical Safety: Never spray flammable, caustic, acidic, or gas-producing chemicals. Always read the chemical manufacturer's instructions.
• Personal Protection: Wear protective clothing, including respiratory masks, gloves, and eye protection when using chemicals.
• Battery Safety: Use only SprayMate branded batteries. Do not use wet or damaged batteries. Keep batteries away from metal objects to prevent short circuits.
• Storage: Do not store chemicals in the tank. Drain and clean the sprayer after each use to prevent damage and voiding the warranty.

What's in the box

The package includes the 4-gallon tank, tank strainer, tank lid, backpack straps, battery door cover, battery door parts, 18V battery, charger, bottom holster, carbon fiber wand, inline spray handle, 45° fan nozzle, 0° pin nozzle, adjustable nozzle, and a 5-ft UV-resistant hose.

Assembling your sprayer

Follow these steps to prepare your sprayer for use:

1. Straps: Thread the bottom straps through the designated holes at the bottom of the tank and secure them using the buckles. Repeat for the top straps through the top openings.
2. Battery Door: Assemble the battery door using the spring, pivot pin, screws, and clamps. Secure the door to the battery holster using a Phillips head screwdriver.
3. Wand and Nozzle: Attach the hose to the inline spray handle. Screw the carbon fiber wand onto the handle. Attach your chosen nozzle to the wand.
4. Holster: Attach the bottom holster to the tank using the provided bolts and nuts.

Operation and priming

Charge the battery fully before first use. Prepare your solution in a separate container and pour it into the tank through the strainer. Insert the battery, turn on the power switch, and squeeze the trigger to spray. If the pump runs but no liquid comes out, you may need to prime the sprayer by removing the inlet filter and running clean water into the connection.

Sprayer maintenance

To ensure longevity, rinse the sprayer with fresh water for 3-5 minutes after each use. Clean the inlet filter at least every other time the sprayer is used to prevent clogs and pressure loss. Store the unit in a dry, clean, and shaded place, protected from extreme heat or frost.
