The Towsmart 12V Tester Kit is designed to troubleshoot electrical functions on towing vehicles, such as turn signals, taillights, and brake lights. It includes two testing methods: a wire probe for direct wire testing and a 4-flat connector tester for standard trailer plugs.

Wire Probe Tester

Use this method to test individual wires for power.

1. Connect the alligator clip to a metal surface on the vehicle chassis to establish a ground.
2. Activate the specific electrical function you wish to test (e.g., turn signal, taillight, or brake).
3. Grasp the corresponding function wire.
4. Pierce the wire insulation with the probe tip or connect the probe tip to the hole/terminal on the connector.
5. The red LED on the tester will illuminate if the wire or terminal is active.

4-Flat Connector Tester

Use this method to test the vehicle's 4-flat trailer connector.

1. Insert the tester directly into the vehicle's 4-flat connector.
2. Activate the electrical function on the tow vehicle (turn signals, taillight, or brake).
3. The corresponding LED light on the tester will illuminate if the function is active.

Troubleshooting and Notes

• LED does not glow: Check the ground connection. Ensure the wire insulation has been sufficiently pierced and the probe has reached the copper wire. Verify that the fuses on the tow vehicle are operational.
