The 01V96i is a powerful digital mixing console. To get started, familiarize yourself with the control surface layout and rear panel connections. Key operations include patching input/output signals, setting channel parameters (Gate, Comp, EQ, Delay), managing scene memories, and integrating with DAW software via USB. Always ensure your sampling rate settings match your external devices to avoid synchronization issues.

Control Surface & Rear Panel

The control surface provides direct access to channel strips, fader modes, and display navigation. The rear panel houses analog and digital I/O, including ADAT, Word Clock, and USB ports. Refer to the diagrams on pages 6-11 for specific connector locations and button functions.

Input & Output Patching

The 01V96i allows flexible signal routing. You can patch physical inputs to any input channel and route outputs to various destinations, including OMNI OUTs, ADAT, and internal effects. Use the Patch menu to manage these assignments.

Input Channel Processing

Each input channel features comprehensive processing:

• Phase: Switch signal phase.
• Gate: Dynamics processor for gating or ducking.
• Compressor: Dynamics processor for compression, expansion, or limiting.
• Attenuator: Adjust input sensitivity before EQ.
• 4-Band EQ: Parametric equalizer for tone shaping.
• Delay: Fine-tune timing between channels.

Bus & Aux Outs

The console features Stereo Out and 8 Bus Outs, plus 8 Aux Sends. These can be processed similarly to input channels with EQ, compression, and output delay. Use the Bus Outs and Aux Outs menus to configure routing and levels.

Internal Effects

The 01V96i includes four internal multi-effects processors. These can be used via Aux Sends or inserted directly into channels. Use the Effect menu to recall programs and adjust parameters like mix balance and tempo synchronization.

Scene Memories

Store and recall mix snapshots using Scene Memories. You can store up to 99 scenes. Use the Scene menu to manage storage, recall, and fade times. Note that scene memories store mix parameters, effects settings, and routing, but not current library data.

Remote Control & DAW Integration

The 01V96i can act as a remote control surface for DAWs like Pro Tools, Nuendo, and Cubase. Connect via USB and configure the Remote settings in the DIO/Setup menu. You can assign faders and buttons to control DAW transport, channel levels, and plug-in parameters.

MIDI & System Functions

The console supports extensive MIDI functionality, including Program Changes for scene recall, Control Changes for real-time parameter adjustment, and Bulk Dump for data backup. Use the MIDI menu to configure ports and message handling. System preferences, battery checks, and fader calibration are available in the Utility menu.
