123RFID Desktop is a free Windows utility designed to simplify the deployment and management of Zebra RFID readers. It allows users to discover, connect, configure, update firmware, and perform inventory operations on supported devices. The software uses an intuitive wizard interface with drop-down menus, radio buttons, and sliders to manage reader settings.

Installation Requirements

Before installing the software, ensure your system meets the following requirements:

• Operating System: Windows 10 (64-bit) or Windows 11.
• Framework: .NET Framework 4.5.8 or higher (the installer will attempt to install this if missing).
• Driver: Zebra CoreScanner driver version 3.07.0028 or higher. During installation, select the Complete installation type. If CoreScanner is already installed, choose the Modify option; do not select Repair or Remove as this may corrupt the driver.

Device Compatibility

The software supports the following Zebra devices:

• FX7500 & FX9600: Fixed readers running Linux.
• ATR7000: Array Reader.
• RE40: RFID Module.
• RFD40 & RFD90: Handheld readers running ThreadX RTOS.

• Configuration Wizard: Easily configure reader settings, including network (Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth), antenna ports, and GPIO accessories.
• Inventory Operations: Perform tag inventory, access operations, and single tag location. You can run inventory on multiple readers simultaneously.
• Firmware Updates: Perform firmware upgrades or downgrades using local file-based methods.
• Offline Configuration: Configure settings offline and save them as .rfdcfg files. Use .DAT files as staging files to push configurations and firmware to readers.
• Asset Tag List (ATL): Import ATL files to provision asset tag items for reading.

Troubleshooting and Known Issues

If you encounter issues while using 123RFID Desktop, refer to these common resolutions:

• Scan Tab Issues: If the Scan tab does not appear or the device is not detected, disconnect the reader, reconnect it, or restart the CoreScanner service in Windows Services.
• Firmware Update Failures: If prompted to reconnect for firmware updates, disconnect and reconnect the device. It is recommended to perform firmware updates over USB CDC rather than Bluetooth for better stability and speed.
• LLRP Connection Errors: If the application reports LLRP is connected when it is not, wait a few seconds and try connecting again. If the issue persists, power cycle the reader.
• Memory Issues: When running long-term inventory, clear the Data view tag list grid periodically using the Clear button to prevent system memory increase.
