Quick guide from the manual
The Acurite 00592W is a radio-controlled weather station that automatically synchronizes with the US Government's National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) atomic clock signal. To ensure proper operation, always install batteries in the main unit first, followed by the wireless sensor. The system supports up to three wireless sensors.
Battery Installation
Main Unit: Remove the back battery compartment cover and insert 2 AA alkaline or lithium batteries.
Wireless Sensor: Remove the back cover, insert 2 AA batteries, press the TX button to initiate signal transmission, and replace the cover. Use lithium batteries if operating in temperatures below -4°F (-20°C).
Placement and Range
For optimal performance, place the main unit at least 10 feet away from electronic devices that may cause interference. The wireless sensor should be placed in a protected outdoor area within 100 feet (30 meters) of the main unit. Note that the sensor is weather-resistant but NOT waterproof.
Time Zone and Clock Settings
The clock defaults to Pacific Time. To change the time zone: press and hold the - / C/F button for three seconds, then press the same button to cycle through P (Pacific), M (Mountain), C (Central), or E (Eastern). To set the time manually, press the SET button and use the + and - buttons to adjust the year, month, date, hour, and minute.
Alarm and Display Features
To set the alarm, hold the ALARM button for 3 seconds and use the + / - buttons to adjust the time. The display shows indoor/outdoor temperature and humidity, moon phase, and trend indicators. Press the MEMORY button to view maximum and minimum temperature/humidity values.
Troubleshooting
If the signal is lost, press and hold the CH button on the main unit to clear the channel, then press the TX button on the sensor to re-synchronize. Ensure the main unit is not near sources of interference like computers or televisions.
Technical Specifications
Indoor temperature range: 0°C to 50°C (32°F to 122°F). Outdoor/Indoor humidity range: 20% to 99% RH. Wireless sensor range: -20°C to 70°C (-4°F to 158°F). Transmission range: up to 100 feet (30 meters) in open area.
