Quick Start Guide
The AcuRite 00665DIX Digital Instant Read Thermometer is designed for quick and accurate temperature checks of meat and poultry. To begin, install one AAA alkaline battery, press the power button, and insert the probe into the thickest part of the food.
Battery Installation
This device requires 1 AAA standard alkaline battery (not included). Heavy-duty or rechargeable batteries are not recommended.
- Locate the slot on the edge of the back cover.
- Gently pry open the back cover.
- Insert the battery according to the polarity markings.
- Replace the back cover securely.
Operating Instructions
- Press the POWER button to turn the device on.
- Press the °F/°C button to select your preferred temperature scale.
- Flip the probe open completely.
- Insert the probe into the thickest part of the meat or fowl, ensuring it is near the end of the cooking time.
- Wait approximately 5-10 seconds for the numbers to stop moving to obtain an accurate reading.
Temperature Measurement and Beep Function
The thermometer will beep when a stable temperature is observed. The beep function operates under the following conditions:
- The measured temperature must be rising at a rate of +3.3°C or more in 3 seconds.
- The temperature must be above 48.8°C.
- The reading must be stable within 1.1°C for 2 seconds.
- The beep will reset after the temperature falls 8.3°C from the high mark.
Care and Cleaning
Proper maintenance ensures the longevity of your thermometer.
- Probe Cleaning: Wash the probe with hot, soapy water after each insertion to prevent cross-contamination.
- Housing Care: The housing and display area are NOT waterproof. Do not submerge them in water or place them in a dishwasher.
- Cleaning Method: Wipe the housing and display area with a soft, damp cloth. Use a very small amount of dishwashing soap if necessary to degrease the housing.
The device features an auto-off function that turns the unit off after one hour of no use or button activity to conserve battery power.
