Quick guide from the manual
The American Lighting HTMR-COB Series is a 24V DC LED tape light designed for indoor use in dry and damp locations. Key installation requirements include using a 24V DC Class 2 driver, adhering to a maximum run length of 32.8 feet, and scraping off the protective nano-coating at connection points to ensure proper electrical contact. Always allow the 3M VHB adhesive to cure for 24 hours before first use.
Safety information
- Electrical Safety: Use only with 24V DC Class 2 drivers. Do not load the driver to 100%; a 90% maximum load is recommended. Disconnect power at the source before installation or servicing.
- Installation Restrictions: Do not install on gates, doors, or areas subject to continuous flexing. Do not install in airtight tanks or enclosures.
- Handling: Never fold the tape light or bend it past a 1-inch radius. Do not operate the light while it is on the reel or coiled.
- Environment: Suitable for indoor dry and damp locations only. Do not submerge in liquids or install where water can accumulate.
- Wiring: Do not route cords through walls, ceilings, doors, or windows. Do not secure with staples or nails.
Layout considerations
Plan your installation based on the following specifications:
- Wattage: 3W per foot.
- Cut Increments: 1.64 inches.
- Maximum Run: 32.8 feet (98.4 watts).
Installation
The tape light features 3M VHB adhesive on the back. Once the protective backing is removed, place the tape on a clean, prepared surface. Note that the tape cannot be repositioned, removed, or reused once applied. For best results, let the adhesive cure for 24 hours prior to first use.
Cutting and linking
Cut increments are clearly marked on the tape light. Do not exceed the maximum run length in any single run. Because the tape utilizes a nano-coating for ingress protection, it is recommended to scrape off the coating from each conductor to ensure a proper connection.

Practical help
Common problems
Scrape off the protective nano-coating from the conductors at the connection point to ensure electrical contact.
Ensure the mounting surface is clean and prepared; let the adhesive cure for 24 hours before first use.
Do not load the driver to 100% capacity; a 90% maximum load is recommended.
Before use
- Verify the power supply is a 24V DC Class 2 driver.
- Ensure the total wattage of the run does not exceed the driver's capacity.
- Check that the installation surface is clean and dry.
- Confirm the total run length is 32.8 feet or less.
- Ensure the tape light is not bent tighter than a 1-inch radius.
Images and diagrams
- The manual illustrates that the tape light has a protective nano-coating that must be removed at the connection points to allow for electrical conductivity.
Model compatibility
- Requires 24V DC Class 2 power supply.
- Not suitable for direct contact with water or submersion.
- Not for use on surfaces subject to continuous flexing (e.g., doors, gates).
