Quick answers from the manual
Quick answer
- The Apera 201T-F is a pH/Temp. electrode with BNC/RCA connectors. It requires 3-point calibration after installation and must be stored in KCL storage solution (SKU: AI1107). p. 1
Key actions
- Install the electrode by connecting the BNC and RCA plugs to the meter. p. 1
- Rinse the electrode with purified water before and after use. p. 1, 2
First start
- Connect the electrode to the meter, then perform a 3-point calibration. p. 1
Problems and fixes
Stir the electrode in the sample solution for a few seconds to remove air bubbles.
p. 2Maintenance and reset
- Clean the glass bulb sensor with appropriate solutions based on the contaminant type. p. 2

Quick Guide

The Apera 201T-F pH/Temp. Electrode is designed for general water solutions. It features a built-in temperature sensor for automatic temperature compensation and a gel inner reference solution that does not require refilling. Important limitations: Do not use for long-term testing in high-temperature solutions (>50°C/122°F), frequent testing in strong alkaline (>12 pH) or acid (
Technical Specifications
- Range: 0 to 14 pH; 32 to 176°F (0 - 80°C)
- Housing: Polycarbonate
- Junction: Single fiber ceramic
- Reference: Ag/AgCl with Gel KCL
- Connector: BNC/RCA
- Cable length: 3 Ft
- Temperature sensor: 30KΩ thermistor
Installation
- Locate the BNC socket (labeled pH ORP) and RCA socket (labeled temp.) on your pH meter.
- Open the rubber caps on the meter.
- Insert the blue BNC connector into the BNC socket and twist clockwise until locked.
- Insert the black RCA connector into the RCA socket.
- Perform a 3-point calibration immediately after installation to ensure accuracy.
Usage
The electrode is shipped with storage solution in the cap to keep the glass sensor tip sensitive.
- Before measuring, loosen the bottle cap and pull out the electrode while twisting counterclockwise.
- Rinse the electrode with purified water.
- Shake off excess water or blot-dry with clean tissue or filter paper. Never rub the glass membrane.
- Insert the electrode into the sample solution and stir for a few seconds to remove air bubbles.
- Wait for a stable reading before recording.
- After use, reinsert the electrode into the storage bottle and tighten the cap.
Maintenance and Cleaning
Always rinse the glass bulb sensor with purified water before and after each test and calibration. Ensure the sensor is covered by KCL storage solution (SKU: AI1107) when not in use. Never store in pure water (RO, tap, distilled, or deionized), as this will damage the electrode.
Cleaning Solutions for Specific Contaminants:
- Inorganic metal oxide: Dilute acid (<1mol/L)
- Organic lipid: Dilute detergent (weak alkaline)
- Resin macromolecule: Dilute alcohol, acetone, ether
- Proteinic haematocyte sediment: Acidic enzymatic solution
- Paints: Dilute bleacher, peroxide
Keep the connector clean and dry. If dirty, clean with cotton balls and isopropyl alcohol, then blow-dry to prevent short circuits.
Troubleshooting and Lifespan
The regular service life is 1-2 years. If the response is slow or the slope is lower than 90% during calibration, it is time to replace the electrode.
Practical help
Common problems
Air bubbles may be trapped near the sensor. Stir the electrode in the sample solution for a few seconds.
The electrode may be reaching the end of its 1-2 year service life. Check if the slope is lower than 90%.
Ensure the connector is clean and dry. Clean with cotton balls and isopropyl alcohol if necessary.
Before use
- Ensure the glass bulb is soaked in KCL storage solution.
- Rinse the electrode with purified water.
- Shake off excess water or blot-dry with clean tissue.
- Never rub the glass membrane.
- Perform a 3-point calibration after installation.
Specs in practice
- Temperature sensor
- 30KΩ thermistor
Images and diagrams
- The electrode features a BNC connector for pH/ORP and an RCA connector for temperature.
Model compatibility
- Not suitable for long-term high-temperature testing (>50°C).
- Not suitable for strong alkaline (>12 pH) or acid (<2 pH) solutions.
- Not suitable for low ionic strength solutions (distilled/deionized water).
- Use only KCL storage solution (SKU: AI1107).
