Quick guide from the manual
This document provides installation instructions for the 1821-WT1 wall lamp. The fixture supports two installation methods: using the provided plug for wall mounting or hardwiring directly to an existing junction box. All installation work must be performed by an accredited professional. Ensure power is shut off at the circuit breaker before starting.
Preparation for installation
Carefully remove the fixture and all parts from the packaging. Ensure you have all components before beginning. The fixture arrives assembled, so no complex assembly is required before mounting.
Installation methods
Option 1: Plug-in installation (Diagram 1)
- Test the placement of the backplate (D) on the wall, ensuring it is horizontal and perpendicular.
- Mark the keyhole distance on the wall, drill holes, and insert plastic screw anchors (A).
- Insert mounting screws (C) into the anchors, leaving 2-3mm of thread exposed.
- Hang the mounting plate (N) behind the backplate (D) onto the screws (C).
Option 2: Hardwire installation (Diagram 2)
- Remove mounting plate (N) from the backplate (D) and transfer screws/nuts to mounting plate (B).
- Secure mounting plate (B) to the junction box using mounting screws (A).
- Trim the plug from the cord (M), pull the cord through the backplate (D), and plug the hole with the provided stopper (N).
- Connect the fixture wires to the house supply wires using wire connectors.
- Secure the backplate (D) to the mounting strap (B) using decorative nuts (F).
Connecting the wires
If hardwiring, connect the fixture wires to the house supply wires as follows:
- Hot: Smooth, black, or transparent wire with black inner thread.
- Neutral: Ribbed, white, or transparent wire with white inner thread.
- Ground: Copper, bare metal, green, or transparent wire with green inner thread.
Twist wire pairs together and secure with a wire connector. If no house ground wire exists, wrap the fixture ground wire around the ground screw (E) on the mounting bracket.
Finishing the installation
Once the fixture is mounted:
- Unscrew the finial (K) from the harp fitter (H).
- Place the harp fitter (H) into the saddle (G).
- Install a light bulb (not included) according to the fixture's specifications.
- Place the cloth shade (J) on the harp fitter (H) and secure it with the finial (K).
- Turn the fixture on/off using the knob (L).
Practical help
Common problems
Locate the ground screw (E) on the mounting bracket and wrap the fixture's ground wire around it.
Adjust the decorative nuts (F) or mounting screws (C) to ensure the backplate is snug against the wall surface.
Before use
- Shut off power supply at the circuit breaker.
- Verify the backplate is horizontal and perpendicular.
- Ensure plastic screw anchors are flush with the wall.
- Check that all wire connections are secure and twisted in the same direction.
- Confirm the light bulb wattage does not exceed the maximum recommended.
Specs in practice
- Neutral Wire
- Ribbed, white, or transparent wire with white inner thread.
Model compatibility
- Use only specified bulbs; do not exceed maximum wattage.
- Installation must be performed by an accredited professional.
