Quick guide from the manual
The Bosch GAL 12V-40 is a professional battery charger designed for Bosch Li-Ion batteries. This guide provides essential information for safe operation, installation, and troubleshooting.

Charging process
Ensure the mains voltage matches the specifications on the charger's rating plate. The charging process begins automatically when the charger is plugged into a power outlet and a battery is inserted into the charging bay (1). Charging is only possible if the battery temperature is within the permitted range of 0–45 °C.
Wall mounting
The charger can be used on a flat surface or mounted on a wall. To mount on a wall, drill two holes 72 mm apart. Use round-head screws with a diameter of 5 mm to 6.5 mm for secure attachment.
Troubleshooting
- Battery not charging: If the red temperature/error indicator (2) flashes, the charger has detected an internal error. Ensure the battery is fully inserted, unplug the charger, and plug it back in. If the error persists, contact an authorized Bosch service center.
- Indicators not lighting up: If no indicators light up, check the power outlet, mains cable, and the charger itself. Verify the mains voltage.
Maintenance and cleaning
To avoid safety hazards, if the power cord needs replacement, it must be performed by Bosch or an authorized service center for Bosch power tools.
